To better rephrase that, Express routes are all in the 500s (502, 506, and 518, as well as the withdrawn or renumbered 501, 505, 507, 508, 511, 512, 520, and 521 routes (to the best of my memory)) range, which I guess is specially reserved for their class of routes.Originally posted by khongovic:Actually most charge normal trunk service fares. 503 as well.Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:To better rephrase that, Express routes are all in the 500s (502, 506, and 518, as well as the withdrawn or renumbered 501, 505, 507, 508, 511, 512, 520, and 521 routes (to the best of my memory)) range, which I guess is specially reserved for their class of routes.
p.s. Only one of the withdrawn Express routes survive in another form, if I'm right. Route 521 was made into a normal trunk route, extended to Woodlands via B.K.E., and renumbered 963. 963e, the Fast Forward-copycat route, was introduced later.
Sv139, Sv143 and Sv145 dont use PIE/ Expressway. Agreed, and to a lesser extent, route 161 too. I remember enjoying the view from the front row of the upper deck of a Super Olympian bus on a sunny afternoon when routes 161 and 168 used to have them for all their double-decked buses.Originally posted by donchoo:168 is an extremely scenic bus ride. TPE - SLE - Woodlands. Passes by lotsa high flyovers and even mandai orchid farm.

Scenic for you, stressful for the VSO, hence the transfer of LOs to 161 out for VSOs. I dislike taking VSOs on expressways, they cannot go fast because their speed is really really tightened, like the tridents, always sound constipated. Partly why the LOs are not so enjoyable is bcos they speed really fast in comparison to the incumbent VSOs and they stink. Still I prefer the LOs for their stability at high-speed and their ability to sustain their speed for long distance. They can overtake all buses including their SMRT counterparts which appear to have their speed tightened by a lot as well, I still remember how 9151P on 168, led 2672Z on 27 on an overtaking spree, experience? shiok.Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:Agreed, and to a lesser extent, route 161 too. For some reason, I don't get that much of a feeling with the older Olympians that they are now using, though. Maybe it's because of the age of the bus, and that they seem "darker" in some way...![]()

but as long as it is not part of the main expressway itself, it's still considered a filter road, so i tink its not part of PIEOriginally posted by khongovic:Actually Jln Toa Payoh is the the stretch of PIE bordering Toa Payoh Town. So technically it is part of PIE.![]()
