Oil, vehicle maintenance costs, people maintenance costs, reasonable profit to return to the shareholders. vandalism, commuters pay lesser fares than what they supposed to be etc etc. Volvo buses are not cheap. But they offer very good safety standards eg. brakes seize if air leaking.
And fares increment must go through parliment. SBST trying very very hard to keep fares low. Affordability is one of our beliefs. I'm in charge of cost savings for workshop level. I'm also really trying very hard to keep material costs low at no expense of anyone's safety. Everything I buy and do must be justified. I make it a point, I don't buy wrong things even if it's an honest mistake I also don't allow for me.
Then Moovemedia was also one way to help bring down costs by getting other people to pay us money to help keep costs low. TV Mobile also. These are the reasons why SBST still can keep prices at this level. Already very panting. If still got people scold SBST blood sucker, I really dunno what what do... -

Compeition does no good either... The only way is to ensure they keep cost low, maybe car petrol tax goes up to cross subsidise diesel for SBS -

More advertisements, can have ad in bus interchanges too(this way maybe SBST can even reduce bus fare ), or have ads on unused boxes of a bus stop plate.

Oil prices have been on the upside for quite a while, the transport companies cant hold on their normal fares for long or it will bleed itself to death...
SIA has risen their surcharge also...let's just hope tt the transport companies will raise the most expensive band in the fare structure instead of raising fares for all bands... -

Actually is bus transport KPKB they are making losses (As if ), perhaps they should peg their CEO and high rank ppl to the 20% of the lowest income in Singapore. Example $800 x 100 -
Ya, things like maintanance fees and diseal prices have risen but sbs can help themselves lower the operating costs by not doing so much unnecessary nonsense.
The best example is mobile tv. This is the biggest waste of money.
Most pple in the bus are not watching it anyway.
Why spend so much money on these sort of frills? Is it just to show off that they are a "world class" transport system?
Besides, with the use of ezlink card, they earn more by commonly overcharging passengers. And there is no need to print so many bus tickets anymore. -

A low income maybe only has $600 of disposable income, GST to be paid is $28.57
A high income maybe has $3000 of disposable income, GST to be paid is $142.86

The more you spend the more you pay
Also, to reduce GST payment, get value goods... Like say Milo, can get a cheaper 1.75kg tin at mum and pop shop than the 1.5kg tin from NTUC... It reduce the GST to be paid by $0.50 for me -

If each person's basic expenditure to stay alive is $500.Then the poor person will definately be affected more
Where for the rich person,if the cost for him to stay alive is too $500,after accounting for this,he is still way better and have way more extra expenditure to do other stuff unlike the poor person -
How come evrytime cash fare add 10cent ?
