The M-B reliability is 2nd to none. As the world's largest
omnibus maker, they really cannot afford to be 2nd class in
overall standards !! Therefore any breakdowns i'll tend to
blame it on sub-standard maintenance or the lack of due
maintenance.
Seems to me some local transport operators here don't
place sufficient attention to detail when it comes to
maintenance. Of course they'll likely use cost as the excuse ?!
But to a premium make like the M-B, cost really is secondary
while the product quality is primary almost irregardless of costs !
I taken the OH 1627 L on SJE in recent times. As far as
bus-chassi part goes, this V8 engined vehicle is simply
top of the class in the overall refinement levels BUT
some idiots can't seem bothered enough to ensure the
air-con compressor is optimally maintained because
whatever 1st class quietness which 'by nature' inherent in
this class of bus is 'cancelled out' by the uncalled for
drony noisy, vibrasive & harsh air-con compressor !!!!
However for their old MAN's which are inherently noisier
by itself, the air-con compressor is of the much quieter
type, as if to suggest that since this bus has a much
noisier engine so it goes with a quieter air-con
compressor ?!? What stupid logic is that ?!??
Same problem with their Scanias, with inherently quiet engines
but noisy air-con compressors.
IF only they care to match a quiet bus engine WITH a quiet
air-con compressor then the overall travel experience would be
so much better for those on board ! Definitely there must be
improvements in these area !

You are joking, besides the sticky gear problem, the MB0405 is still one of the best and most reliable around. Only 1 MB0405 broke down on me, and that's because of AC problems.
