Let SBS Transit take over 608 and renumber as 50. However, there will be changes in the route. From Mountbatten Rd, it will turn into Tg Katong Rd, Sims Ave and terminate at Eunos interchange. It will no longer ply to Bedok. The rest of the route will remain unchanged. This will create new link between Eunos and Tg Katong and to other places where there are no direct link. The route between Bedok and Shenton Way is very "similar" to 196 and they run almost parallel together, so the route will be amended to avoid this duplication. Passengers who are affected by the amended route will have to take alternative services or make a transfer somewhere. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

and what for taking over the route, and let people take alternatives? isnt that as good as having no take over/ or 608? -
That may be just an excuse for SMRT for the withdrawal. Furthermore that route is not in its own territory and those buses can be repainted and used to add to its existing fleet, just like what it has been done. 608 has the healthiest demand with the best frequency among the other CSS services. It makes sense that it will be the last to be withdrawn (i.e Poorer demand services have to go first). Afterall, the withdrawal of 608 has caused more dispute over the withdrawal of other CSS services, thus showing that this service is more popular than the rest. total FARE STAGE count for S17 from T1-T2 is 15
total FARE STAGE count for S60 from T1-T2 is 08, so its about 22-23 fare stages? -

anyway anyone finds that merging 17 and 60 a bad idea?
both have a share of DD routes and the full route is serviceable by DDs... furthermore it will link up more passengers on 60 to 17... the sad thing it doesnt benefit me anyway besides the journey being too long winded, any comments, do voice them... thanks... -
60 and 17 uses the same road Bedok North Ave 1 before proceeding to the interchange. This will create a problem with the merge. Use green and white plate is not a good idea for such a case. Seriously , i feel that there is a need to implement this service as it will serve commuters to link from Choa Chu Kang , Jurong East , Clementi area to Loyang Ave and Changi Village easily and directly with such new service from the west , people from the west don't need to go as far as the eastern in order to get to Loyang Ave and Changi Village. What are your comments? Do you think PTC will ever approve such service? -

You may want to make it the second Express 511/512, goes to the city then go ahead with another route. Maybe can merge with 97, but it may make it like the old 97, Hougang - Jurong East route, but instead of HG, this one is Punggol. -
This route beats around a "bigger" bush in Jurong East than the one that 52 and 105 "beat" into Toh Guan before proceeding to other places from the interchange.Originally posted by bus555:How about this route instead:

Extend 15 to New Bridge Road Terminal via Mountbatten Road, Stadium, Nicoll Highway, North/South Bridge Road, Cross St and New Bridge Road. Create direct link between Chinatown/Suntec/Stadium.
OR
Extend 15 to Buona Vista terminal via Amber Road, ECP, Keppel Road, Telok Blangah Road, Henderson Road, Depot Road, Alexandra Road, Queensway and Commonwealth Ave. Create direct link between Marina Parade and Harbourfront/Depot.
For the latter route, the route may be long but there are express sector so it is alright. -
