Imagine next time if 171 gets partially controlled by KJDEP...Originally posted by iveco:This might happen when BTL starts running and 171 gets shortened from MRC to BPJ.
Route is rather unique in my opinion. It somehows follows 163 but it takes Bishan Rd, Bishan St 21 and Marymount and Sin Ming Ave. This as a result improves the accessibility of Bishan St 21 areas links to Toa Payoh and Woodlands.Originally posted by In_Between_Days:Reposted frm an earlier tread:

There is 51at the first portion of the orute from Hougang to Pasir Ris except that 51 doesn't ply the Hougang Ave 8 area. rom Hougang Ave 2 to Kaki Bukit Ave 1, there is 25, 55, 854 utilising the whole route together with service 4. After the junction of Hougang Ave 2 and Upper Serangoon Rd, there is 51. Anyway, it follows 87 afterwards to Kaki Bukit Ave 1. Then, at Kaki Bukit Ave 1, it follows 58. I predict that for demand wise, it will be moderately high from Hougang Ave 2 to Kaki Bukit Ave 1 where residents residing at the Hougang areas take buses to the industrial areas at Ubi. However, imagine if they are living at Hougang Ave 8 blk 600 plus, they will prefer walking to the Hougang Ave 2 bus stop to take 25, 55, 854 or 4 to their destinations rather than to wait for service 4 only at the bus stop along Hougang Ave 8.Originally posted by SBS 9256 X:Service 4

That, would be the revival of 989 but shortened to Sengkang. I think this would be better called an Express service because it utillises mainly expressways doing the route. So, no hope. But still a direct link from Jalan Kayu to C.C.K but this bus would compete with Service 86Originally posted by swee_heng:I seriously thinks that Choa Chu Kang is really a place with the worst bus services!!! Its time for SBST or SMRT to introduce routes from Choa Chu Kang - the Northwestern areas.

agree. not only that, i think there's poor connections between Bt Panjang/CCK/Bt Batok and Hougang, Bedok, Tampines. if SMRTB is not interested, PTC should open them up for SBST!Originally posted by swee_heng:I seriously thinks that Choa Chu Kang is really a place with the worst bus services!!! Hmm.... I see that many of you here are coming up with bus routes that will hopefully make CCK more accessible. Perhaps for this route, it can skip W'lands and go direct to AMK. Not too sure if the there will be high demand though.Originally posted by SBS 9256 X:Service 164

I don't think there will be a need for this service to go to W'lands since 187 links Bt Batok to W'lands other than MRT. Also, 161 links Hougang to Woodlands.Originally posted by SBS 9256 X:Service 41

It just doesn't make sense for a corporation to implement such a route. They'll suffer huge losses. First, the Yew Tee resident base isn't that big to begin with and second, i think they should just extend 190 to Yew Tee MRT or KJDEP like what was suggested.Originally posted by patdog112:woah.. the above bus route is someting i have been dreaming... if tis come true finally yewtee finally have some buses going to TOWN.. somemore it can relief some 190 Load
if 190 extend YT MRT or KJDEP can u imagine the load?Originally posted by simnatic:It just doesn't make sense for a corporation to implement such a route. They'll suffer huge losses. Between Tampines and CCK, there's 67. From Bedok to Bt Batok, there's 66 and Express 506. So it's not really that bad actually, though it's true that there isn't a link from Hougang to Bt Panjang/CCK/Bt Batok.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:agree. not only that, i think there's poor connections between Bt Panjang/CCK/Bt Batok and Hougang, Bedok, Tampines. if SMRTB is not interested, PTC should open them up for SBST!

Well, my cousin lives near YWT, and he has lost faith in the public transport system.
