Unfortunately, though it provides a direct link from Bishan St 21 to other places, 410 still provides the link to the nearest MRT station which is Bishan MRT for commuters to get to other places while service 164 to Toa Payoh. Then again, demand this kind of thing is very hard to gauge. Same thing as Marymount Rd, it provides more links now to Toa Payoh and Woodlands and also Upper Thomson Rd.
From 3M at Upper Thomson Rd to the nearest MRT station, it is still 169 that provides the fastest link to AMK MRT (southbound MRT). For Northbound MRT, it can be 169 (Yishun MRT) or your service 164 (Admiralty MRT) since your service utilises the expressway.
In short, the route is theorically viable. But it still lies on the power of the commuters.

There is 51at the first portion of the orute from Hougang to Pasir Ris except that 51 doesn't ply the Hougang Ave 8 area. rom Hougang Ave 2 to Kaki Bukit Ave 1, there is 25, 55, 854 utilising the whole route together with service 4. After the junction of Hougang Ave 2 and Upper Serangoon Rd, there is 51. Anyway, it follows 87 afterwards to Kaki Bukit Ave 1. Then, at Kaki Bukit Ave 1, it follows 58. I predict that for demand wise, it will be moderately high from Hougang Ave 2 to Kaki Bukit Ave 1 where residents residing at the Hougang areas take buses to the industrial areas at Ubi. However, imagine if they are living at Hougang Ave 8 blk 600 plus, they will prefer walking to the Hougang Ave 2 bus stop to take 25, 55, 854 or 4 to their destinations rather than to wait for service 4 only at the bus stop along Hougang Ave 8.Originally posted by SBS 9256 X:Service 4

Nevertheless, it provides a direct link from Hougang Ave 8 to Kaki Bukit though 87 provides a link to there too from Hougang Central.
Dun forget 88 which is there to provide a link from Hougang Ave 8 to Pasir Ris. 15 also passes Kaki Bukit Ave 1 to Pasir Ris.
On the whole, this route faces too many duplication. For the first portion, it looks like 87 then 58. The route in my opinion is not really economically viable to be implemented. -

I was thinking if it is possible for SMRT services to terminate at depots, just like some SBST services terminating at SL and AMK depots. Anyway, this service will link Yew Tee to the city area, and provide an alternative service to Sg Kadut and Kranji to supplement 925. -

It just doesn't make sense for a corporation to implement such a route. They'll suffer huge losses. Provide the smallest number of fare stages from Hougang or Upper Serangoon Rd to Clementi (around 28 stages). Hence in my opinion, it is faster than 165 from Hougang to Clementi.
Fare stages of around 41 in total.
Mainly I use routes of 80, 151, 154, and 30 to calculate the fare stage.

From MacPherson Rd to Clementi Rd plus 151 provides a link from Hougang to Bukit Timah and Ngee Ann Poly and SIM area. -
