89 Already goes to Changi Beach and it is good enough. I wonder how's the demand for 89 since it goes to Changi Cargo Complex.
The demand for 89 is HIGH. The DDs are always full from CACC during the evening peak. And 89 connects both ends of Pasir Ris very effectively too, passing by important areas like Downtown East and Pasir Ris West Plaza. Service 3 is an alternative for some parts of its route in Pasir Ris but it turns around too much, and therefore 89 is preferred for getting from Downtown East to Pasir Ris Dr 1/12.

When the 2 IR are up, you would know how important it is.

that can wait. moreover with MRT lines running underneath, there shudnt be a problem.
but downtown east is and will be the in-thing.. 24 hour cathay cinema, bowling facilities, chalet, ferris wheel(tho not like sg flyer).
restaurants like hei sushi has even moved out frm white sands to downtown east.

This means that if I plan to joyride a Trident on a weekday afternoon, is it more advisable to joyride on 80 or 89?

go for 89. at least it'll still ply eastern SG. so you dont wander off so far okay? 89 also ply TPE. see your luck BC keen to speed not.
Since 51 is such a long route, I propose that it be split into two
50 Hougang Central to New Bridge Road
51 Jurong East to Geylang Lorong 1
1. Extend Express 506 to Boon Lay Int and CGAPTB
2. Terminate Express 518 at Marina Ctrl Ter
114 Sengkang - Serangoon
Sengkang Int - Sengkang East Way - Compassvale Road/Link - Hougang Ave 10/2 - Yio Chu Kang Road - Serangoon Garden Way/Circus - Lorong Chuan - Serangoon Avenue 2 - Upp Serangoon Road - Serangoon Central.
Amend 52 Jurong East - Sengkang
Sengkang - Sengkang East Road - Sengkang East Ave - Sengkang West Ave - Jln Kayu - Yio Chu Kang Road - AMK Ave 6/5/8 - Bishan Rd - Bishan St 22 - Sin Ming Ave - Upp Thomson Road - Lornie Road - PIE - Eng Neo Ave (express) - Bt Timah Road (express) - Clementi Road - etc etc
Going via Bt Timah Road express may be faster because the distance is shorter compared to using the PIE.

Not that beach lah, it is the small patch at Ponggol Road end near where the ex-ponggol bus terminal exsisted. that meant keep the original route

It's too long already... the 1 direction trip for Service 52 is already 1 hour ++ and to extend it to Sengkang it'd be like another 51.

FYI, 506 did extend to CGA for a period of time. Due to low demand, it cut short back to Bedok Int.
518 in city area is 1 way, no point terminating at Marina Ctr Ter.
