It was approved in Nov 07. Until now i'm still waiting for it to be extended. With the extension, bndep will deploy buses for 48. With K230s in bndep and not many N113s going off in the immediate term, S48 extension should be a reality when NUS starts term in Aug. Hopefully...
To know when 48 will be extended just go bio the Bedok notice board will do since it terminates at bndep.

I suggest that Svc 198 to be extended to terminate at Marina Centre Ter in which after the existing route, shall continue its journey in Henderson Rd, Telok Blangah Cres, Telok Blangah Rise, Lower Delta Rd, Tiong Bahru Rd, Outram Rd, Eu Tong Sen St, Hill St, Bras Basah Rd, Temasek Blvd, Temasek Ave and Marina Centre Ter.
And return trip shall be plying Raffles Ave, Stamford Rd, Hill St, New Bridge Rd, Outram Rd, Tiong Bahru Rd, Lower Delta Rd, Telok Blangah Rise, Telok Blangah Cres, Henderson Rd and continue its existing journey towards Boon Lay.
The advantages shall be 1) Providing the resident in Jurong East, West Ave 1 a link to Chinatown (but quite long distance I admit) 2) Link Tiong Bahru MRT to Telok Blangah Rise and Cres (And thus replacing 272) & 3) Link Chinatown with Marina Centre in which currently there is no link.
