Merger of CityShopper 576 and 579 to Express 579
Tampines Interchange - Opposite Centennial Tower
Why merge the 2 CityShopper services?
Well, I hope my first suggestion would be a good one. Thanks!

Why merge the 2 CityShopper services?
- The cost of the premium service is quite prohibitive to most people.
- CityShopper services doesn't run during morning and evening peak hours in weekdays. Hence the office workers staying in Tampines Ave 5, 9, St 34 and Simei and working along Newton, Orchard or Suntec area will not be able to benefit from the new service since it started in Dec 07.
- Can help to alleviate the crowds taking Express 518 to Orchard. 518 demand during peak hours is always quite high. Even in saturdays and sundays, you may not be able to get in 518 when going home from Orchard.
- Can compete with SMRT's 531 for office crowds, especially since SMRT raised the fares to $4.
- Simei currently doesn't have any Express service.
Well, I hope my first suggestion would be a good one. Thanks!
NO!!!.... No merging. 576 routing is abit windy in Tampines already. add in 579 the route will be too long (It is like taking 518 from PSR int to get to Orchard.) Took it once, decided train was better. lolx.
And if CS579 became Exp579, I would no longer enjoy $1 student fare. ![]()
Anyway, any reasons for retaining the number 579?

A slight amendment of my previous service 49. Part of the amendment is gotton from SBS 9888Y suggestion of his 118 as quoted to ply Simei estate.
This service now provides links between Pasir Ris, part of Tampines, Simei, Bedok Sth, Marine Parade, Marina Centre, Shenton Way, NUH, NUS, West Coast, Teban Gdns and Jurong East.
Now, there is an additional bus service along Simei Ave at ITE College East besides 31 which provides links to nearby areas such as Pasir Ris, Bedok Sth Ave 3. This is a direct bus too from Temasek JC to Marine Parade.
However, this bus service is too long as it has a total of around 55 fare stages.

Erm, ha ha, that's part of my point. 576 goes around tampines which is akin to taking an express bus. So why not merge it have into 1 service (instead of 2 for tampines) and convert it into an express service so that more ppl can benefit from it. Nah, no particular reason, cos it duplicates more of 579, that's y use it. Anyway, its just a suggestion. Ha ha.

I'd rather have 859 to be extended to Changi Village than having a new service, since there's potential for 859 to be extended after calling at Yishun. And I find that going by Changi Coast Road is quite long. Why not just pass by Tampines town centre > Tampines Ave 7 > Loyang Ave > Changi Village after exiting from TPE?

Will this service be under basic trunk service or express service or a cityshopper service?
Anyway, I feel that this service's purpose will be similar to 518's purpose. A circuitous route within Tampines estate and then express all the way to town. I think demand will be as high as 518 if this is an express service.

Service 137 provides a quick link from Punggol to Boon Lay via many express sectors along the expressways. However, it passes by a handful of bus stops in Punggol and Jurong West and a bus stop in Choa Chu Kang. Demand has to be heavily relied on these bus stops and Punggol and Boon Lay interchanges in order for this service to be profitable.
I guess service 41 will benefit people at Lor 8 Toa Payoh, AMK Ave 4 and Yishun Ave 4 the most. Lor 8 Toa Payoh, AMK Ave 4 and Yishun Ave 4 will definitely be more accessible with this new service. However, a significant portion of the route runs parallel with 851 and 852.

Ya, somewhat similar to 518. It'll be an express service.

It will be much more useful than Cityshopper Service and I suggest the normal 15 min frequency.

Good idea. But since it is expected to have more than 50 fare stages per direction, why not ply more express sectors like plying PIE instead of Jurong Road, plying KJE, SLE, Jln Kayu and TPE instead of turning around at Mandai, Yishun and Seletar?
In the same sv 9 also follow from Bedok Int to CACC..
