I guess we cannot deny that buses can reach speeds that are faster than so-called permissible limits. But bearing in mind that speedometers in Singapore, fitted to every vehicle except for Police/Fire Department vehicles and except for those that are tempered with, shows only 95 percent of the true speed. Hence, at 70km/h, the true speed is 66.5km/h, which is still, and definitely, over the speed limit.
I have only saw notices, the most in Yishun Interchange, reminding BCs not to dirty the driving cab and keep the bus clean, but never, notices saying 'Do not temper the speed limiter', and I would too wonder, who would do that? Do you temper the speed limiter just to reach the destination faster, maybe for Malaysia, but not here, in small Singapore, where everything is just a stone's throw away.
We do have to look out for buses with tempered speed limiters, even if you are not going to complain... -

dont you all know that public buses ie SMRT, SBS..
they will not get summons or be pulled over by the Traffic Police etc?
those speed limiters are there firstly to give commuters a peace of mind mentally..
theres so many people claiming the buses can travel to 70, 80kmph... -

I too never saw public bus pulled over by 'matta', as to reduce the inconvenience to pax, even if the laser/radar gun shows 70 (or 80?!)km/h... -

you sit front back anywhere also can kena if accident. we're lucky that SG bus opprators use good rethreaded tyres if not halfway speeding the tyre suddenly rip off just like some budget coach drivers and kena accident because lost control. Car in SG also got speed limiter ar? Anybody got see before truck speeding? i saw before a mitsubishi fuso tipper truck speed past at more than 80km/h. Dun need to worry lah, SG buses speed also where can reach 90km/h(if can must worry already) because sg road where got so little bends.

Interchange == 1st Prize.
Safety == I think it is neligible?
The Bus == His monster race machine
The opponents == The other buses , esp from rival firms such as SBS or SMRT
His Passengers == ??
Fame for being in an accident due to speeding? == Top Piority.
If this is the case, er..... he will see PIE, KJE, CTE etc become race tracks, bus stops as Pit stops and Traffic Lights as countdown indicators.

them speeding nowadays is as rare as seeing Nissans on 67. Have but not all the time...
161 from WDL to SKG took me 31-40min
157 from BB to TPY no longer that fast... in fact, its 30-40 mins (and i rather take 985 )
DAFs on 985 can speed as well!

And yeah , CCK is only place that has the most DAF around....
Last time when 852 is partial KJ/AM , it have DAF too , if im wrong is cameo or perms (that im not sure lah)
So overall DAF can speed .... unlike the Hino's

157 during like 9+am - 1pm going to Toa Payoh the most lag one, along Adam/Lornie Road let all other vehicles pass. After 2PM not that bad, but the best would be early morning from Toa Payoh, can chiong until Adam Road then get stuck in traffic jam.
