Hmm, still can remember taking NAC MKII on service 11, erm, SBS1737C, then BC can drive very very fast, acceleration can be fractionally faster than aircon buses of the same kind, and maybe even faster than catalogue specs? Wondering, NAC bus on North South Highway, and, 6 speed manual gearbox, 115km/h...
And great, 1737C is still running, and I guess my first choice would be it, put my hands on it to preserve, I have my booking with LTA! -

Anyways, SBS1752H (DM) and SBS1777L (WA) would make a good pair if they are salvaged from the scrap schedule, but too bad, its history. -

On MK4s, it isn't that serious
Somehow i think that mercedes paired up with ZF to develop a gearbox, partly because of the unique psst psst sound as well as the first gear lock-up, this features can be noticed in both the ZFs and Mercedes gearboxes. Anyway for those who thought that it was MKIII, maybe because both the bodyworks on the MKII and MKIII are similar. Think SBST wont be buying anymore mid-engine buses such as the B12M, but rather B7RLE , B12BLE, or the new B9L. -

SBS876R (BNDEP 31) ZF Gearbox - Marigold Yoghurt Drink(information taken from sgwiki) they are exceptions, meaning they are either special models or are MKIIIs with voith being changed to ZF, just like the 0405 using mercedes gearbox being changed to voith. Hey, if all MKIII have ZF gearboxes will you all still hate the mkIIIs? I would like to see DAF having ZF gearboxes!

hi, anyone here would like to see the Volvo B7RLE or the B12BLE running with SBSTransit on SG roads? I think B7RLE for a 12m bus enough liao. Want bendy then use B12BLEA. 290bhp for a standard city bus enough liao, then EDS should be orange, like the ones found on Sentosa's B7RLE.

If you're talking about the B7RLE as in the Sentosa ones, no, I don't want them to be running with SBST. Although the interior looks nice, they are starting to rattle a bit. The B9TLs are starting to rattle also.
The VSOs (by Volgren) and B10BLE CNGs are also one heck of strong rattlers. However most VO3x bodyworks don't rattle a lot up till now.

actually it is not the body that rattles alot. think it is caused by poor insulation between the engine and chassis that is supposed to dampen the engine vibration. notice that this happens sometimes on Volvo? there isn't any much complains about mercedes volgren and hispano rattlings, though some of them does rattle.

scania vibrates more. Just place your head on the window panel for a few seconds and you'll get headaches. VSO not so much except if you sit at the rear 1lvl (near th engine). ya, the scania L113CRL vibrates the worst, shake until my specs start shaking and because of that, i get blur vision. shouldn't expect those things on new buses, but the B7RLE dissappoints me a little.Originally posted by XTransbus:scania vibrates more. But i still like the B7RLE and the Merc's OC500LE, and maybe the B12B/BLE. Seen alot alot of B7R coaches in Thailand, never got to take one of them, but i took the rather old B10B i think. -

Yes, i really do like the idea of preserving a bus, but i done a bit of research on my own.

1) You need funds to refurbish the buses (LTA age limits to 17 years, so the buses are crikity already.)
2) You may need a permit or something ( i cannot confirm, heard from some bus fans friends of mines.)
3) You need parking space. Really. HDB carparks wont work, and heavy vehicle park is not a really great idea.
4) You need a license if you plan to drive your preserved bus. Unless you have a bus captain as a friend.
5) The fuel charge. -
9889U is suffering engine problems, confirmed that with BC. Merc Volgren rattling can be very serious. it depends on the bus... but extreme rattling when its at traffic light or bus stop... even stronger then most hp vibration
