Yup, thats why B10Ms variants were chosen for inter-town /cross-border servicesOriginally posted by carbikebus:SMRT Buses are tecnically low steps city buses with low profile tyres.SBST Volvo B10Ms are the menace ones. They're far more suitable for interstate services or express services rather than city buses stop n go!
Agree with what u said, but i think TIBS during that time didnt expect this WAB vehicles wave to reach Singapore that quickly, and more importantly, how much more they have to pay for using low floor vehicles. I'm not sure how much one habit cost but one Citaro rigid 12m cost around $500k. But maybe they should at least get a demonstrator to test. hmmm...Originally posted by jetabt767400:Before buying TIB1019Z-TIB1247G, SMRT, the then TIBS, should have already thought about wheelchair friendly buses, and now 1110S is gone from the fleet, just a side story.
So, TIB1019Z-TIB1247G, might not have minus-ed 1110S, would have been low floor, Habit bodied 0405GNs, and this would have made SBS Transit envy, plain and simple. Then the Volgrens, another low floor bus opportunity.
No reason saying LTA dun allow, dun see this happening.
Its all about grabbing the chance!
Hmm, so much ar? That B10M bendy that SBS T. had, 400K, wow, then rigid already so ex...Originally posted by XiaoTaro:Agree with what u said, but i think TIBS during that time didnt expect this WAB vehicles wave to reach Singapore that quickly, and more importantly, how much more they have to pay for using low floor vehicles. ai yah that time SMRT dont have much money mah, around 92-93 then they start enough money liaoOriginally posted by iveco:Anyone realised that SG has not had any NAC artics at all?
Tibs in the old days could have brought in O305Gs or Renault 180s if they needed high-capacity buses. After all, SBS had the LAs.
no Daewoos in SG! I've seen one in Thailand and i dont think it is really nice! Hino may be considered. As for Mercedes, SMRT may choose the OC500LE and also the Scania K series. Hope they can bring in the MANs! Like those used in Malaysia! Anyone here would like to see MANs in SG?Originally posted by carbikebus:Anyway my guessing for SBST & SMRT future purchasing is simple
SBST>Volvo and more Volvos,Expect a few Scanias,I dunno why but my feelings says so even during my BC times at SBST,The executives did mention about this.Maybe a few Korean/Chinese marques suchs as Daewoo & King Long/Dong Feng.
SMRT>Mercedes-Benz of course,A very few units of Scanias,A few of Daewoos and maybe a few Hinos or Nissans.
I took a crazily fast ride down the Central Expressway on route 857 before on this bus (posted about it sometime ago), and saw it on route 969 too.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:ya. i saw this bus being deployed on 963 before.
OMG... I hope SBST will stick with European brands and not use China imitation brands...Originally posted by carbikebus:Anyway my guessing for SBST & SMRT future purchasing is simple

yup i think i've seen a volgren 0405g on service 700 on the BKE . i thought my eyes were playing tricks, so they were real! A volgren 0405G is very rare at bukit panjang interchange, hope one day will have some deployed there!Originally posted by jetabt767400:Sistership of 1179U, 1178Y was seen running down the street before Carlton Hotel on service 700, 22nd September. Volgren 0405G can go fast.
Hmm, yeah, hopefully some can be swapped over...Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:yup i think i've seen a volgren 0405g on service 700 on the BKE . i thought my eyes were playing tricks, so they were real! Any problems with the chassis? Periodically China buses should have this problem, and then the bodywork.Originally posted by stooper:OMG... I hope SBST will stick with European brands and not use China imitation brands...I think all the China buses all fail crash tests...
