9889U is simply a demo made in 2003. eventually the details of the bodywork was refined with 9889U as a concept, resulting in the WAB bodywork, which were fitted on the new B9TL chassis.Originally posted by Y_Shun:So they make that demonstrator bus just for the production bodies?
I personally think that SBS9889U looks nicer alot...

YES, I agree with you alot!Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Hmm........ why doesn't ComfortDelgro Engr uses EDS instead of the little puny little traditional destination plates? It seems kinda weird to me to have a completely new and modern bodywork, but it uses a low-tech cheapy old desti plates....I know that EDS costs more and needs more maintainance, still it looks nice on such new bodyworks, dont u think??

Reason is simply. Itz Cheap and easy to maintain. Low technology ? I do not think so. If you are talking in terms of bus management, it is much more easier. Imagine if theres depot transfer. The Poor depot staff have to key in every single route details into the EDS system.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Hmm........ why doesn't ComfortDelgro Engr uses EDS instead of the little puny little traditional destination plates? You're not losing much, 9889U is now in a filthy state. SBST has forgotten about 9889U after the B9TL was introduced. It is also plagued with engine problems and had only just returned to svc after having its engine taken apart for 3 mths.Originally posted by sinicker:no chance to take 9889U.
B9TL's upper windscreen tinted tho. nice.
I thought it is still on 147?Originally posted by SBS3625D:You're not losing much, 9889U is now in a filthy state. SBST has forgotten about 9889U after the B9TL was introduced. It is also plagued with engine problems and had only just returned to svc after having its engine taken apart for 3 mths.
Fortunately, I managed to take a shot of it some time ago before its whereabouts became irregular and unpredictable.

It's not the matter of looking nice or not. I find that plastic desto is better? Better as in can display the routes clearly and can display chinese words for those who can't read english.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Hmm........ why doesn't ComfortDelgro Engr uses EDS instead of the little puny little traditional destination plates? key in every single route details? tot all were keyed in and save inside computer? if need additional, just transfer new details to the computer chips?Originally posted by sBs_boy:Reason is simply. U forgot that the plastic destos displays the sevice number much larger than the EDS systems, so for those with eye problems, it is another advantage...Originally posted by SBS 233 X:It's not the matter of looking nice or not. maybe thats why front desto dosent have any words on them now.. so that if any major amendments, the front desto can be re-usedOriginally posted by lemon1974:key in every single route details? tot all were keyed in and save inside computer? if need additional, just transfer new details to the computer chips?
btw, if use plastic desto, also need to make new desto when route amendment mah...
chinese wordings can be used on the front[like HK], but for the side display maybe possible if the resolution at the side is large enough. of course the software issue needs to be settled. :/Originally posted by SBS 233 X:It's not the matter of looking nice or not.
