LEYLANDS?!Originally posted by MingFreeman:Sigh.......I like leyland's buses especially the leyland olympian axle 2 non aircon double deck model. Its a pity that its no longer in service.
Now I think the only leyland model left is the air con double decker.

OH NO! THEY ARE WHAT I CALL TRASH TECHNOLOGIES!
NEVER! NEVER! STUPID ANGLO BODY WITH YANKEE ENGINES!
Really. If you work in my line, you will forever be plagued with the thought of hoping the Leylands get phased out. Mercedes Benz are still the best. Oh well... Company bought so may Volvos... At least they operate a more similar to the Mercedes than Leylands.
I think the Bobbie Gymbus can be move , just saw it recently at the National Stadium carpark.Originally posted by XTransbus:they're not moving

Eh 2? 4 is the answer. We have 2 with Gardner engines which were manufactured in 1988 and imported in 1992 in Sentosa, RU403Y and RU404U. RU402A has been de-registered.Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:Since u like the LO2x , there are 2 of them left actually

Engine
Leyland If the dump valve is not working, it will not allow ample pressurised fuel into the fuel valve to start operation. That means the bus has a max speed of <10KM/H. And this always happens. This month alone I had 2 cases. One of them on 9056 and the other on 9060.
I know there're more than these 2 cases. And turbo chargers are very problematic. Last time there were quite a number of fire and smoke cases with Turbo chargers. To us, not even the slightest smoke is tolerable. With this kind of high expectations, my other colleague who's in charge of turbo chargers always keep high alert on such items. But for Volvo, we're more at ease.
Leylands have more axle breakdowns than any other buses.
have they been replaced by this guy?Originally posted by Scania:Eh 2? 4 is the answer. We have 2 with Gardner engines which were manufactured in 1988 and imported in 1992 in Sentosa, RU403Y and RU404U. RU402A has been de-registered.
Like I said vehicle max speed drops drastically to <10km/h. Lack of power. Cannot climb slopes if for Svc 179. But easy to start and crank. Which shows nothing wrong to electrical aspect.Originally posted by stooper:Interesting... Is that any indication for the dump valve not working properly? And what exactly is an axle breakdown? Is there any indciations of it as well?
And by smoke, you mean fire from the engine or just the very black exhaust gas?
So all the present engines are not the original engines? Are they replaced by engines of the same model or have they been changed?Originally posted by MS:Basically my MB0405 engines lasts about 4 years to 7 years.
Volvo Olympians and B10Ms lasts 3 to 6 years.
Leyland Olympians lasts 2 to 5 years. And during these 2 to 5 years, I would've done so much to repair the engine. Dump valves, fuel valves, cyld heads, FIP, etc etc...
As Of now, there is only 1 left..Originally posted by Scania:Eh 2? 4 is the answer. We have 2 with Gardner engines which were manufactured in 1988 and imported in 1992 in Sentosa, RU403Y and RU404U. RU402A has been de-registered.
Of course not.Originally posted by stooper:So all the present engines are not the original engines? Are they replaced by engines of the same model or have they been changed?
And I notice especially that the lower deck seats of some Leylands emit excessive heat (i.e. 9092B, 9058B, etc) when coasting or braking. Is this something to do with the engines also?
But i heard that Scanias are more expensive than Mercedes, is that true?Originally posted by iveco:Scanias long lasting? Get more Scanias. Bring on the K95s.
