On your 2nd point. Are you trying to bullshit your way through ? For our dear Nissan UDs, their AC Unit is on the top of the bus. Not underfloor carriage. Also, NIssan UD Chassis is NOT a Low-Floor Chassis.. how on Earth are you going to build the ramp on it ??

Sure! Remove all the Nissans and then replace them with what? We all know SMRT don't have enough buses already. How can SMRT withdraw all the Nissans without first bringing new buses into the fleet?

well i dun see much nissan diesels in operation except as spare buses restin there to be scraped... Only 178, 187, 853, 980 and 981 operate scheduled perm nissan diesels... sometimes yishun svces do have a few spare nissan diesels -
By the way...no news of them going to buy new buses arh...?

So the Nissans do have their purpose; as spare buses. They are the 'supporting actors'. They take over when one of the main buses broke down or is due for maintenance. They help make up the numbers in the so called 'less popular' services in order for the better and modern buses to be used on the more 'demanding' routes. Its a give and take situation, especially when you're trying to make full use of a stretched resource. We may not like it but hey, we don't run this business. So all we can do is sulk, pout, be grumpy and post all our grudges against the Nissan in this poor forum.

I love the Nissans. Took some of them on 187 before. At least they have effective AC.

SMRT is really having a big problem........ if they spend all their money on trains may go bankrupt and we will have no trains to take, much less upgrade/introduce buses.

juz take a look at SMRT, transferring nissans to its SMRT fleet. -
What's wrong with the Nissans being transffered? Firstly, it adds resource to SMRT's fleet, thus, to a small extent making our wait shorter by having more buses on its services.
Secondly, just think, without these Nissans, you people would be complaining on SMRT having too little buses, resulting in longer waits. Just bear with and don't complain. After all, the fare we are paying is quite low for the standard of buses we have on our roads...cannot expect too much lah... -
Buses and trains are built to last, about 30 years at least. While we have a 17 year lifespan for public buses, theres no such restriction on trains. The C151 are still working well despite being 20 years old due to excellent maintenance by the SMRT crew. In other less fortunate countries, trains of such age would be a nightmare to see, let alone ride. SMRT has already taken the initiative to refurbish the C151 and spent a lot of money too. Why they didn't use the money to buy new stocks, you may ask. Well, phasing out and bringing in 77 trains is no walk in the park. Probably, it would be too much time consuming and could result in a brief shortage of trains, something which SMRT is ill afford to do.

i really lyk the SMRT MB0405G(volgren bodied) bendies and single TIB958U to 972C and TIB1178Y to 1197S, i tink their the best buses SMRT has so far... i think the volgren bodied buses are not bad be it HINO and the DENNIS LANCE (volgren) TIB1017D and 1018B but i tink they shld buy more of the SMRT 0405G (volgren-bodied bendy or non-bendy)
THE DAF is one of the UGLIEST buses and i hope they do sth to re-BEAUTIFY it -
I'd rather the DAFs stay at they are due to their unique (some say ugly) body. Rebodying a bus isn't cheap, if you want them to rebody the bus to another body, it may add to fare hike.
