For all MRT stations- if u r using adult fare cards, the moment u tap on the fare gates, a blue ( some green ) light will flash on the LED blinker. However if u r using children/senior citizens/concession cards like me, you'll not see blue light but a yellow ones.
For all buses- if using adult cards, the moment u tap, u'll hear a single beep tone. However if u using children/senior citizens/concession cards, you'll hear double beep tone.
No need to ask passengers take out cards to check! Simply by listening can already

unfortunately. the bus driver can detain your card. without giving you a reason. read the ezlink TOS

We depend on these bus drivers to provide us with a svc...w/o them hor, how r we going to go out to work, sch, play watever.
No wonder they act so dua pai...king of d roads like tat. -

transport operators are not BC lah...they are the drivers, transport operators are the higher hierarchy people like board members, directors etc. -
Bloody bus drivers also damn dangerous on the road... they think they drive public bus can anyhow squezze inside ppl lane.....

If you read the T&C at th eback of your EZ link card, it states:
Use, governed by regulations and published conditions.
This card shall be retained if it has been tampered with, misused, replaced or refunded.

The Tertiary Student ez-link card is not transferable.
It must be carried at all times as proof of eligibility when travelling.
It must be shown without demand to the bus driver before the student tap the card on the bus entry reader.
It must be shown without demand to the inspector or other authorised staff of SBS Transit, SMRT, SLRT and TransitLink.
Legal proceedings may be taken against any person who misuses the card, allows any misuse of the card, or breaches any of the Terms & Conditions, for the use of the Tertiary Student ez-link card.
SBS Transit, SMRT, SLRT and TransitLink reserve the right to confiscate any card deemed necessary for investigation. -

quite shocked to hear that a BC is authorised to confiscate the ez link card.
having ur ezlink card confiscated is juz like having ur wallet confiscated. An ez link card is no longer just a simple fare card anymore. It was designed to work as a smart card where organizations can make use of and implement into their systems. In others words, its designed to be an all-in-one card.
Many companies make personalised ez-link cards for their employees to be used for identification at security access points. Students use it as a library card in schools and public libraries. Macdonalds already made the move to accept payment through ez-link card and its just a matter of time several other fast food joints follow suit.
If the bus driver has the power to confiscate our ezlink card, how can we be assured that he/she will not use for personal gains? Is there any way to prove that our card got confiscated by a bus driver? -

when you kanna overcharge on ezlink, what can he do? nothing...nothing at all but point you towards buona vista office to claim your 10 cents.
but when you pay coins, he die die ask where you want to go? how come don't pay enough? chase you off the bus etc etc -
Lucky that time I kenna the slow service 61 driver, the other Malay guy only punh up the validator and kicked the door of the cab, didn't beat up the river or I cannot go home xia...
