I also want to see Volgren bendies on 176!! The loudest bus of SMRT's bus fleet! I love their acceleration sounds! And i think you're right. Bus coaches are very slow in acceleration, maybe because the first few gears are "super low" gears used to climb hilly roads, however, their speed are much faster, especially european ones. I noticed that those older Mitsubishi coaches in SG are much slower than those Malaysian Mercedes, even though they are of the same age as them, anyone noticed that? -
I still remembered the first batch of smiley Hino volgren buses on service 961 in October 1999 when it was newly introduced. Once took TIB956A from Woodlands to Queensway for a joyride. All the Hinos were withdrawn from service 961 in Dec 1999 when it came under full WLDEP control, after which all the Hinos were transferred to the newly Tibs taken over service 188. Remembered that I used to go to CCK to wait for service 188 in order to get a joy ride on the Hino buses.
After some time, service 961 also got a smiley Merz volgren bus wehn WLDEP put TIB969M perm on 961. -

Not only the Hinos are being moved, the Volgren bendies are being used on trunk svcs as well. TIB1024H and TIB1197S were found cameo-ing on 963 the last week. goodness. i been seeing and even taking many volgren bendy on 963 since i started NUS thats like 2002

Citybuses/Omnibuses,Good acceleration and mid power speed due to automatic transmission but limited on top speed and sucks in climbing steep slope.
Coaches/Express buses,Poor acceleration(Unless you really floored hard the clutch and gas),Good mid power and superb top speed,Some manual transmission ones can hit up to 165kmh!
Intercity,"Hybrid" coaches body tyres but with most auto transimission and 2 doors ala city buses types,A combined of both buses types
