seems like every bus u took is moaningOriginally posted by Ito_^:i swore the bus i rode was moaning!![]()
OMG... Today, when the bus drove past me, just nice the strange sound kicked-in. From outside, it sounds like something banging the metal engine covers!Originally posted by stooper:9064H of 179 has recently got a really weird sound. When the driver floors the accelerator, a really strange sound kicks in halfway. I dunno how to describe. It sounds like a very strong engine echo.
It sounds a bit like 9128H in the past, before the engine got repaired. But the only difference is that the sound occurred in 9128H whenever the accelerator was pressed. But in 9064H, the "echo" effect kicks in only when the bus is moving. Most of the time in the 3rd gear. But it doesn't seem to be fixed. It even kicked in once during the lock-up gear, and another time, it only kicked in in the 4th gear. When it kicks in there's a "psshhhhhhhh" sound You can hear it very clearly if you sit on the lower deck last row.

Same as SBS 413T. This buses may stuck at the 1st gear.Originally posted by tanjun:SBS 421U and SBS 429Z on svc 76. Normally, for mercedes benz buses, when it starts to move, the pitch starts to rise then the bus jerks, then the pitch starts to rise again. However, for the above two buses, there is no jerking as they start moving.
I think slip gear, almost every O.405 with a Merc transmission have or had this proiblem in one part of their working lifespan.Originally posted by chickenlittle2:Same as SBS 413T. This buses may stuck at the 1st gear.
But the acceleration of these buses can be high. Within 5 seconds, the speed can reach to at least 40kmph.Originally posted by Scania:I think slip gear, almost every O.405 with a Merc transmission have or had this proiblem in one part of their working lifespan.
Omg, stop advertising for AMDEP. Yesterday, I took SBS 3772 L on svc 124. Similarly, it also had that kind of jerking as it is changing gear. Somemore it also jerk while the bus is stopping? strange? Best buses to try would be those in svc 502. (Except SBS 432M) (Best recommend SBS 298J and SBS 3733A) .Originally posted by SBS9888Y:take those MB0405 frm BRAM and AMDEP most of them dun have weird sounds unless they are ex-SLBP or Jurong Bus Park buses... for SLBP try 301H... it still has the same sound since it was launched long time back
The jerks are normal. Now if the 0405 ride is smooth, I would be inclined to think something is wrong.Originally posted by chickenlittle2:Omg, stop advertising for AMDEP. Is this the bus with a very loud & distinctive ZF howl when it changes from 2nd to 3rd gear?Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:SMRT svc180's TIB873E also had funny sounds, especially when accelerating, maybe engine noise, i dont know.
Hmm , like that can record bus sounds thenOriginally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:SMRT svc180's TIB873E also had funny sounds, especially when accelerating, maybe engine noise, i dont know. Some SMRT CAC O.405 also had funny axle sounds, especially when it hits a hump, you can hear a "lok lok lok" sound. Svc171 has alot of funny buses that emits funny sounds, there's one bus OAC O405, the ZF gearbox sound is very loud, slightly louder than those Scania!
You are spot on man! I did record one of the bus sounds, and its the one with the loudest howl when the gear lock-up kicks in!Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:Hmm , like that can record bus sounds then![]()
