Naming roads and streets after Singaporeans

What do you all think? Is that a possibility of changing current road names? SM Goh has highlighted this in today's The Straits Times and I agree with this to honour Singaporeans who have contributed a lot to the country.

No need to rename lah....
In the future, when new roads are built in Marina downtown or Punggol New Town or other new towns, all the "fanciful names" can be applied onto the new roads...
The fanciful names can also be applied to new schools, new hospitals, new institutes etc etc...
If you wanna a place to be named after you, you can donate a lot a lot of money... NUS has a lot of examples, such as Yong Siew Toh conservatory of music, Yong Loo Lin school of medicine, CJ Koh Law Library, Hon Sui Sen Business Library, etc etc...
Maybe I should aspire to earn a lot a lot of money, and then donate it to some organisation, and a place will be named after me!!! Hehe... -

If changing the name of one road is bad enough, imagine changing the names of almost every roads in a city... Such massive name-changing occured in history before, especially when a country is taken over by a new political party or when it gains independence. Examples include India (changing British names to Indian names) and Vietnam (changing French names to Vietnamese names). As for Singapore, we treasure our colonial heritage and we keep all the road names intact. (Dunno whether it's a good or bad thing. But at least it makes life easier for historians.)
I myself would be resistant to name changes... Several years after the MRT changed its station numbering system, I still have difficulty remembering the new numbering system... (I tend to think of Bedok as E8, AMK as N9, Boon Lay as W12, etc...)

yupps and a tah ching, kang ching, yuan ching, yung ho, yung kuang, hu ching, tao ching, yung an and yung sheng road...
all in taman jurong... i take 154 very often so pass by there quite often -
just imagine...........
