U should learn more about history. I think it help us to know who our pioneers are and not to glorify them. Lee Kong Chian is a pioneer of the Rubber Industry in Singapore. Nowadays young people do not know who are their founding fathers are. That why our leaders are now suggesting so as to let them know about our founding fathers. Surely i do not support current leaders glorifying themselves.
In truth not everyone knows that Singapore coming to this modern city is not by LKY himself but from a cabinet of Ministers like Eddie Baker, Lim Kim San, Toh Chin Chye. Until they died then we remembered our pioneers after that we forgotten them again.
FYI, Saddam is a tyrant Dictator. His bloody statue at glorifying himself before he died ought to be pull down. I dont think our founding fathers will want to have a statue of themselves unless we Singaporeans agreed.

Let's not give up our heritage to glorify some bunch of people who are overpaid.

Lazerlordz is right. The New Guard did nothing much as the foundations ahd already been laid for them.
Anyway, we already have housing estates and schools named after prominent people from our past. (Lim Boon Keng, Eunos Abdullah, Whampoa Hoo Ah Kay, Manasseh Meyer & the like.) -
