I think for the hard cover, they just strip off the original light grey leather, showing the hard plastic underneath.Originally posted by SBS3625D:.....that the refurbished LO3X/VO3X differ in their refurbishments?
Some have red seats, some have red seats with new AC covers, others have blue seats with new AC covers. And the new AC covers differ too. Eg. 9188J has hard AC covers, 9037L has a soft cover for the AC.
Sound and gear selector, gear selector now has a ZF logo beside it, although the original Merc arrangement 1 2 3 N R still remains.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:How do you know? Don't tell me from the sound...![]()
I think that some W3E gearbox the retarding sounds also similar to ZF, especially when the BC brakes hard. You can hear a "whhrrreeeennncccccckk" sound. Both the gearboxes also produces "pppssssssT" sounds. Strange sia.Originally posted by Scania:Sound and gear selector, gear selector now has a ZF logo beside it, although the original Merc arrangement 1 2 3 N R still remains.
Sound wise not like the SMRT ones. Gear changes very fast, has ZF howl, goes into NBS. retarding sound also like ZF.
Hello got ZF howl, got NBS, how do you explain?Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:I think that some W3E gearbox the retarding sounds also similar to ZF, especially when the BC brakes hard. I think for this has been there for quite some time.Originally posted by swee_heng:The rear engine cover of TIB570D has the pattern of those on the Lances.
This I gotta see. Where can I find 3899E?Originally posted by Scania:Hello got ZF howl, got NBS, how do you explain?
hgdep 154Originally posted by swee_heng:The rear engine cover of TIB570D has the pattern of those on the Lances. The Mk3s on 160 were formerly based at HGDEP and 734S (if i'm not wrong) 739D & 785U has a "511" sticker sticked behind its "160" sticker & 796M was from BRBP if i'm not wrong coz i have seen the 154 sticker sticked.
Erm im not trying to argue with you that you have false info of 3899E. I actually "hacked" (IM SO SORRY!) your post. I just wish to add in a 'abit' of info. If you do notice, the W3E emits a some what air escaping sound, "pssst" when the bus stops. I dont know what causes that .. But im dead sure its not the brakes ... ZF 4HP500 also do produce this sound, only alot softer and a different tune. Try the LO3x, some produces a "psst psst....tsuiii...." sounds, which actually intrigues me. About the retarder sounds , im not too sure, but the W3E retarding does sound abit like the ZF 4HP500, ONLY when the BC brakes hard. I cant really explain...sorry.Originally posted by Scania:Hello got ZF howl, got NBS, how do you explain?

Wah......Originally posted by Scania:Hello got ZF howl, got NBS, how do you explain?
Correct, except when driver pulls handbrake.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Btw what is the NBS? Neutral on Bus Stop?
Oh. Btw the NBS is very obvious on the ELBOS and Scania Striders of SMRT buses. I always hear the NBS sound. Mercs O.405 also very obvious.Originally posted by Scania:Correct, except when driver pulls handbrake.
No.Originally posted by SBS3625D:Wah......
Just thought of something. Was there ever Voith NAC 0405s?
What is NBS then? A button you can press?Originally posted by Scania:Correct, except when driver pulls handbrake.
When you drive car, lorry, bus, etc, you will see this additional handle (like gearstick but smaller or thinner) beside the driver, it engages the brake without having the need to press the brake pedal.Originally posted by stooper:What is that then? A button you can press?![]()
I remember its automatically kicked in when the bus stops, am i right?Originally posted by stooper:What is NBS then? A button you can press?![]()
yes automatically.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:I remember its automatically kicked in when the bus stops, am i right?
Oh... So is that why the DM3500s, VO2x, etc will suddenly whine louder when stopped?Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Actually the NBS is a good thing for the ELBOs you know? I remember taking TIB847G on 970 (cameo), it has rather bad rattling, seats vibrate, windows vibrate and doors vibrate.![]()
But when the NBS kicks in, the rattling has been cut down a little bit, meaning rattling is not as worse. Maybe this is because when the NBS kicks in, the engine runs at a higher RPM? What does the NBS do actually? What is its purpose?
