Some types of public buses introduced in the 70's and 80's do have a similar configuration. The door is either in front of or immediately behind the front axle, and the exit door is behind the rear axle. I think I once saw a Hino RK176 with this type of configuration many many years ago, and from what I have read, several other types of buses have this configuration too, some resulting from then-SBS' program to convert some buses (and some bus routes) to one-man-operation; the Mercedes 811D minibuses also had a similar configuration, as were at least one early SBS demonstrator bus, an Isuzu.Originally posted by MeOwSuSan:I think the best idea ... is shift the exit door to the rear.....
at least all will not stay a the centre ....
Wait till SMRT or SBST(hopefully SMRTOriginally posted by eX.A.K.R.:Currently, though, all single-deck standard-length buses owned by SBS Transit and SMRT are front-centre door configuration; only private buses have this front-rear door configuration.
Why must it always be citaro ? Why cant SBST Buy the Volvo B9L ?Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Wait till SMRT or SBST(hopefully SMRT) gets the 3-door version of the Citaros and u will see front-centre-back onfiguration.

Erm Citaros are fully built buses, whereas Volvo B9L are chassis type. Therefore SBST must design themselves their own bodywork or ask others to do it and request for a special 3-door version. Anyway i like Citaros because they are beautiful buses!Originally posted by sBs_boy:Why must it always be citaro ? Why cant SBST Buy the Volvo B9L ?

I believe it's still possible to switch the rear Ez-link readers to Entry. When the Ez-link system was first introduced, some 179 drivers allowed boarding at both doors.Originally posted by No_10_Tomas:the ezlink should be flexible to allow boarding at rear doors,

I remember in the past (during the "farecard" era), bus conductors push out this extra farecard machine at major interchanges during peak hour, and let passenger board at the rear door. (I used to board 225G & 225W at the rear door and paid my fare with the "mobile" farecard machine.) After all the passengers boarded the bus, the conductor would tap his hand on the bus twice, and the BC would close the doors and drive off.Originally posted by stooper:I believe it's still possible to switch the rear Ez-link readers to Entry.
