I just went there today. The place is hell. The Fairprice Xtra is in basement 2. Since most parts of the building is still not open, people have to squeeze through one of the two available entrances, find their way to basement 1, and then squeeze onto one single pathetic travellator from basement 1 to basement 2.... (The other escalators and lifts are not operational yet.)
When I reached B1, the downward travellator from B1 to B2 malfunctioned... People were piling up beside the start of the travellator and are forced to turn back. There was a NTUC staff at the start of the travellator trying to divert human traffic, but she was overwhelmed by a huge mob of confused people trying to ask for directions. The scene was very chaotic.
There was a staircase beside the travellator. Some people tried to walk down the stairs to B2, but somehow the door at B2 was locked, so the people walked up the stairs again. More and more people were arriving and there was no way to get to B2. In the end, I walked all the way to the other end of the building, took the escalator to B3, walked across the carpark at B3, and went up from B3 to B2... By the time I reached Fairprice Xtra, the downward travellator was working again, and the staircase door was unlocked... @#%&*#!!!!!!!
The Fairprice Xtra was super-crowded. The situation is worse than Vivocity. Vivocity, although crowded, is still spacious and has clear directions. The new AMK mall is crowded, claustrophobic, and disorganised. I was stuck in a human traffic jam most of the time, and at one time I was almost knocked down by a supermarket trolley. (The bl**dy lady who pushed the trolley was behaving like a chiong-ster...)
Besides the Fairprice Xtra, there are very few other stores. (Most stores are still empty or still under renovation.) Hence, it is highly recommended to avoid this place for a time being. You should only go when the whole mall is ready... (when all the shops, lifts, escalators, bus interchange, underground passage to MRT station, etc are opened...)
