SMRT tenders for 66 new 12m buses

LOL , I think its good that they buy new buses , otherwise some people here keep on hating the Nissans which i think we shouldn't complain off.

Brand new Nissan nvm, as long its air suspension + any SG/Aust/Euro body should good, most of the new nissan coachces are quite nice to ride on, unlike the SMRT UDs... i would definately choose this over the china king longs on rapid KL with leaf springs.Originally posted by swee_heng:what if it is a brand new Nissan?
Anyway, does Singapore's WAB standard specify that the vehicle have to be a SLF (Super low floor) model? Coz i've seen US buses with a step (like the lances) and still is wheel chair accessible because of the electronic/automatic ramp at the rear door. Similarly, Some VO2x in UK also have electronic/automatic ramps meant for Airport shuttle services. -

Altho some dun like the Citaro's back, i love its new front. Its nicer than the older version. Scania's?? Why not the Scania OmniLink? Ok larh serious, Scania K230 Euro 4 da best liao. Scania models will be ZF-ed, whereas if SMRT chooses the Citaro, it shall be a mix, like 33 units Voith, and 33 other units ZF-ed. New Scanias seldom uses Voith gearboxes, as seen on their website. Everything is ZF, model is ZF 5-speed. UD's or other buses can, provided that it has electronically controlled air suspension .
Citaros feature the kneeling function, also its fully built up, offers wheelchair ramps, can be fitted with outward swinging rear doors as option, fully low floor meaning no steps from entrance all the way to the rear of the bus, unlike the B7RLEs, which has steps after the rear exit. Also has deep windows like the Habits, which allows alot of light in during the day.
SMRT wont be buying new bendy buses now, instead its buying 12m standard buses. Perhaps if they were satisfied with the new WAB 12m SDs, they will purchase new WAB bendy buses in the future. -

No doubt, but going by SMRT's financial situation, SMRT should have a Scania trademark. Apparently Mercs will further worsen their financial situation. But I must tell you I love Mercedes buses A LOT. To the extent that my so called fantasy company has like 1000+ Citaros (don't shoot me on this, yeah?) -
With the way that they force passengers onto trains and the way that they cut the running cost of buses by putting away Bendies.. I do not seems to understand why they are "Poor".
