  Let's say that you might be headed to a crowded MRT station and would prefer to tap your card there and save time at the machine. So u pay cash on the bus.

  this is wad i found as i payed by cash and he asked me for my IC or ez-link but i told him i dint bring any he nodded and droveoff and i manage to squeeze out some info from him... those that check cards may seem atrocoius but they are just doing they're job maybe u find the hassle makin it atrocious... under AMDEP/BRAM makes it a priority as the BRAM (toa payoh) BCs have told me that they have caught alot of cheating scams by student fare cash and that they were told to have strict checks on cash paying students after they check either IC or student pass... but some of those commuters say lost or dint bring BRAM (toa payoh) BCs still allow and driveoff... ... however the main problem are elderly male BCs esp towards gals from any depot seen on 7402U (SL 051), 9285L (AR 111), 2609H (BB 166), 9036P (BR 157), 281G(AM 136), 9690A(HG 089), 9631X (BN 017), 9176T (SL 179 cameo on 154), 860K (AR 195) mostly are towards teens esp gals

  So far i only encounter once since SBST stick those purple stickers on the bus but my case driver very good leh, say thank you somemore

  but ppl might fake they are students and pay the 'student' bus fares(cash)... so it will be cheaper alot.

  yes u need to show ur concession pass even if its empty to prove that u are still a student and that u are on a concession rate.While some BCs are nice others are just plain abnoxious.So in the future,tell your friend in this case that even if its empty,try to bring his concession pass along.Better still,Get his birth cert.And show it at that BC until hes satisfied.

  The School Smartcard / ITE Student ez-link card is not transferable.
  
  It must be carried at all times as proof of eligibility when travelling. School uniforms do not prove students' eligibility for travel concession.
  
  It must be shown without demand to the bus driver, inspector or other authorised staff of SBS Transit, SMRT, SLRT and TransitLink.
  
  Legal proceedings may be taken against any person who misuses the card, allows any misuse of the card, or breaches any of the Terms & Conditions, for the use of the School Smartcard / ITE Student ez-link card.
  
  SBS Transit, SMRT, SLRT and TransitLink reserve the right to confiscate any card deemed necessary for investigation.
  
  The ez-link card shall be retained if it has been tampered with, misused, replaced or refunded.
  
  Anyway for those who do not know, EZLINK Card (regardless of type) belongs to EZ-LINK Pte Ltd (a LTA company). Although we "Bought" the card and paid for "travel deposits", the card is still the property of EZ-LINK PTE LTD.

  I have this experience before, the BC (on SBS 9326 (maybe 'C'), 23 June 2006, 15:44 hrs) requested my Ez-link card, he never tell me to tap and check but he just look at it and let me pass. I am only 13, very obvious, maybe nowadays, children grow very tall, difficult to see wheather its an adult (over 1 or school teen/child. So far, I had once experience on this. I had got no problem on the other 147s such as 9514, 1968, 7399, 7371, 7324, 7313 etc, all pass. I do not use cash all time, so I do not know if the other BCs are like this.
