Nice OC500LE CNG with ZF.Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:Nice sound , like it....

The bus that's being thrashed sounds like one of the bus on 171, also being thrashed.Originally posted by Powered_By_CNG:The difference in sound between a bus being driven lightly and a bus being thrashed is very obvious. Compare these:

Stop this fighting fellas, no need for it. I am an Aussie and conditions over here are very different to the conditions in Singapore. It may well be that the Voith transmission has more success in Singapore due to the low speed requirements which therefore permit the use of an extremely low diff which in turn provides extra acceleration.
Let's leave it at that.

Good morning! I'm from the Czech Republic, the city of Ostrava. We are solving a similar "mystery" about different style of ZF shifting. I think it is the same problem. Both buses have ZF 4 HP 500. But I dont think it is caused by the driver (bus being driven lightly and a bus being thrashed is very obvious). The 1st sound is Karosa B741.1908 and the 2nd is Karosa B741.1922 or serviced 1908.Originally posted by Powered_By_CNG:The difference in sound between a bus being driven lightly and a bus being thrashed is very obvious. wa from tampines go back Jurong island to refuel very far leh!!!Originally posted by bus555:anyone realised that feeder service 243 has Volvo B10BLE on every route. But how come other feeder service (like example townlink 291) do not have Volvo B10BLE on every route???
The first one sounds like Scania ELBO!Originally posted by IndyB961E:Good morning! I'm from the Czech Republic, the city of Ostrava. I would say both sounds like Scania L113sOriginally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:The first one sounds like Scania ELBO!
Regarding bus being "thrashed", try taking TIB1132D (180 JKDEP), it actually sounds like a CVT-ed bus.Cant really hear the usual ZF shifting. It actually has something to do with the drivetrain, like what IndyB961E has said, rather than being thrashed. TIB1132D is the most obvious.

Yes, but the second one is lock up at second gear leh, all L113s lock up at first gear.Originally posted by sBs_boy:I would say both sounds like Scania L113s
It might sounds like SCANIA, but i don't think that SCANIA has the LIAZ engineOriginally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Yes, but the second one is lock up at second gear leh, all L113s lock up at first gear. But it does sounds like Scania L113s! ( as in engine sound)

It locks up at the first gear, you will feel it when then bus moves off on first gear then you get a slight "boost" and you will hear a "wheee........eeeoorr" sound.Originally posted by IndyB961E:It might sounds like SCANIA, but i don't think that SCANIA has the LIAZ engine. You're right, the second sound (B741.1922) is locked up at second gear, but when is the first (B741.190
locked up?
I think I understand what you mean.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:It locks up at the first gear, you will feel it when then bus moves off on first gear then you get a slight "boost" and you will hear a "wheee........eeeoorr" sound.![]()
Its already pre-set. The driver won't be able to change it no matter how hard he floors the accelerator.Originally posted by IndyB961E:So if I have ZF transmission, can I set when does the torque converter lock up? At the first gear or the at the second gear? Or it depends on speed or acceleration.
Tahnks very much. In our forum some people still say: the typical sounds are caused by the engine or by the differential, but not by the gearbox .Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:The driver can't but the technician can. You can re-program the gearbox. Its all in the electronics.
Who say Volvo cannot speed? Volvo cannot speed is because of the speed limiter....Otherwise Volvo is quite a good sprinter...Originally posted by SBS351M:aiya, Volvo where got good, the Causeway bus think MAN coach is best lah, can speed, not like Volvo, maybe gearbox they do something to the Volvo?
MAN can speed one, on expressway the MAN can overtake the 506 Volvo, should be the gearbox different one.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Who say Volvo cannot speed? Volvo chassis i think is rather good and solid, with its TX platform...I believe Volvo chassis is one of the best?![]()
I'm not sure about those bus stops, but both depart Jurong East at around 1500 to 1530 in the evening peak. So you slowly calculate...Originally posted by TWS4793:Anyone have the timing on when the Service 66 CNG buses (SBS 2990E and SBS 2991C) will arrive at Block 139 at Bedok North Avenue 3 and at Bedok North Bus Interchange? I need all the timings of these buses because:
1. I had not boarded these buses before; and
2. I had not taken a proper picture of a CNG bus yet!
Erh.......the MAN also overtook our SMRT MB O.405 leh....Originally posted by SBS351M:MAN can speed one, on expressway the MAN can overtake the 506 Volvo, should be the gearbox different one.
Chassis used is MAN 18.310, but so what if its coach, coach can also be and less powerful.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Erh.......the MAN also overtook our SMRT MB O.405 leh....
And ofcuz gearbox different lah...Manual (MAN) and Auto (ZF Volvo B10M) where got same.![]()
By logic, manual should be faster.
Actually, the Causeway Link MAN is actually a MAN 18.310, a chassis actually used for coach.. So maybe teh MAN is faster because of this?

18 tonnes for MAN 18.310, its the engine and gearbox which matters, 310hp engine is very good.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Erh.......the MAN also overtook our SMRT MB O.405 leh....

I guess it should be arriving in about 45 minutes to an hour at Bedok. When I took CMI bus photo of CNG Bus (SBS 2991C), it was roughly about 1515hrs to 1550hrs when the bus was arriving into Bedok North Bus Interchange.Originally posted by stooper:I'm not sure about those bus stops, but both depart Jurong East at around 1500 to 1530 in the evening peak.
