A car takes 45 min to one hour via the 66 route. You think a bus is able to do it?Originally posted by TWS4793:I guess it should be arriving in about 45 minutes to an hour at Bedok. When I took CMI bus photo of CNG Bus (SBS 2991C), it was roughly about 1515hrs to 1550hrs when the bus was arriving into Bedok North Bus Interchange.
Actually, the CMI photo I took was not during the holidays. They were taken during a Sunday before school started on Monday.Originally posted by service_238:A car takes 45 min to one hour via the 66 route. You think a bus is able to do it?
I strongly and firmly believe the picture you took was during the school holidays.
In the event that you dont know, Service 66 operates on Holiday1 schedule during the school holidays where the timings of the buses are adjusted. Henceforth, let's say u see the gassy at 4pm at Bedok in December, you wont be seeing him at 4pm in January.
According to Weekday schedule as at July 2006, the first of both buses will arrive at Bedok after 1710hrs. The second of both buses will depart Bedok by 1800hrs. They are 2 buses apart.
So how long does it take from Jurong East to Bedok? You calculate yourself
erm.. isnt sunday still a holiday ?Originally posted by TWS4793:Actually, the CMI photo I took was not during the holidays. They were taken during a Sunday before school started on Monday.
So I guess the time frame will be 1700hrs to 1830hrs on a weekday, and 1500hrs to 1700hrs on a weekend (including PH).
Also, SBS 2990E was seen at Bedok on one morning last year.
Wah, SBS2991C must be doing like Fast Forward 66e to reach Bedok within 45 mins at 120kmh.Originally posted by TWS4793:I guess it should be arriving in about 45 minutes to an hour at Bedok. So you love ZF issit? You say the MAN not because of Manual but because of the chassis.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Erh.......the MAN also overtook our SMRT MB O.405 leh....
And ofcuz gearbox different lah...Manual (MAN) and Auto (ZF Volvo B10M) where got same.![]()
By logic, manual should be faster.
Actually, the Causeway Link MAN is actually a MAN 18.310, a chassis actually used for coach.. So maybe teh MAN is faster because of this?

To a certain extent the gearbox can affect the sounds emitted.Originally posted by IndyB961E:Tahnks very much. In our forum some people still say: the typical sounds are caused by the engine or by the differential, but not by the gearbox .
Is it true that ZF lasts about 3 years? And what other options can technician re-program?
You ZF lover ha?Originally posted by Scania:Sorry, Causeway Link CW2 MAN 18.310s are also using ZFs, using ZF S6-85 6 speed Synchromesh gearboxes. So manual ZF one.
I'm not a technician, but i think the rpm at which the gears change depends on acceleration (and also on a reference value). It is very obvious if the driver is accelerating lightly, there is the 1st gear, and then he releases the accelerator. The bus jerks (The ZF shifts).Originally posted by SBS3625D:To a certain extent the gearbox can affect the sounds emitted.
From what I know, the technician can control when the lock-up kicks in, as well as the rpm at which the gears change. So the same gearbox can be "tight", or "loose", as well as differing in when the lock-up engages.
No i do love Voiths. Voith is better than ZF sometimes.Originally posted by SBS351M:You ZF lover ha?
That is true. I agree that the gearbox changes gears according to acceleration also, with drags occuring for slow acceleration, and for impatient drivers. But assuming that the driver applies the same pressure on the accelerator for the same gearbox with different programmings, the behavior of the gear changes will differ also. Take for example the Leyland Olympian 3-Axle vs the Volvo counterpart, both are fairly similar buses with the same ZF4HP500 gearbox.Originally posted by IndyB961E:I'm not a technician, but i think the rpm at which the gears change depends on acceleration (and also on a reference value). Yup, take the DAFs for example. Its acceleration is good. But i think underpowered buses shouldn't use Voith, an example is the VSOs. The Voith makes it even slower in acceleration with its underpowered engine. Some people i talked to agree that they are better off with ZF. Wonder what will happen if the UDs get Voiths.Originally posted by Scania:No i do love Voiths. Voith is better than ZF sometimes.
Yep, however Voiths sound better to me (my opinion) as I like the high-pitch sound when they brake. E.g. of my favourites are TIB1040, TIB1047, TIB1049 (ObviouslyOriginally posted by Scania:No i do love Voiths. Voith is better than ZF sometimes.
