Question about fares

  I notice that sometimes for the same journey with the same number of stops from the same service number the fare may differ, why is this so?
  
  When scanning EZ link card before alighting, there is this figure in brackets behind. What does that mean?
  
  Can anyone teach me how to calculate the fare for a journey should there be transfers between buses and MRT. Many Thanks!

  $0.25 is the transfer rebate. Really cee bai one, bus mrt fare go up, but rebate stay the same. WTF man!?!?!

  So that means as long as i transfer from one bus to another bus or mrt will have this rebate of $0.25?
  
  Does it differs if one transfer vehicles from different companies such as SBSTransit and SMRT?

  EZ Link is just a way to earn more money, last time farecard.. 55c can last you from one end to the other..

  for SBStransit transfer as many trip as you like, within 2 hrs from first tap, also maximum cap @ S$ 1.90, e.g. first tap, S$1.09, second trip S$ 0.81, third trip FREE, fourth trip FREE, but all must between 2 hours.
  
  but if after 2 hours travel, even you immediate transfer another bus, it will still appear new ride, this is abit un fare.
  it should @ least transfer rebate S$0.25
  
  also every now @ then, just go to any transist link office , just as them to check any transfer credit, sometime we do not aware that some little money waiting for us to collect @ transist link counter.

  The transfer rebate is applicable for all transfers between basic bus services (feeder and trunk) except for transfer for the same number. Transfer rebates also applies if you transfer to/fro MRT.
  
  For MRT/LRT transfer, the transfer rebate has automatically factored in if you transfer seamlessly between the two modes. For example, from Queenstown to Petir LRT, if you exit at Choa Chu Kang MRT, then reentry at Choa Chu Kang LRT, you will not enjoy 25 cents rebate.
  
  Some non basic bus services offers transfer rebate, but that is at the discretion of the public transport operators.

  I am aware that the SBS Transit website have this function but i don't think the SMRT website have this. Anyone with info?

  It's by ez-link, and they have stopped the service recently. Maybe to stop you from checking the fare errors easily.

  Although the official press release on why the service was discontinued was due to "security concerns", that someone might misused this service, my view on why ezlink stopped the online enquiry service is because:
  
  They want to increase the sale of their Sony reader, which allows users to view past transactions and top up farecards.
