Engine sound of buses!

Wa..I love the engine note of the new B9TL buses..the engine note of the B9TL is not as dull as the continuous whining of the VO3x..haha..the B9TL's engine sounds a little deeper and a little bit like the Cummins engine..and there's a very shrill whistling sound emitting from the engine when accelerating, probably caused by the turbocharger..and I love it a lot!! Can someone please record it? Lolx.. Mr. Green

I dunno but it just sounds very nice and unique when you try and differentiate the engine and gearbox sound for this video. You hear the low-pitch Cummins, you hear the ZF whine kick in half-way, you hear the lock-up and also you hear another screaming sound. Turbocharger?

Impossible. If the turbocharger produces a screaming sound, get away from that bus quick! Laughing

Turbocharger usually produces the loud whistling sound like what you hear on B9TL.

Anyway, the LO3x ZF produces one of the nicest engine sounds that i would just fall in love with immediately. Very Happy

VSO SBS9830M on 143. BC got some problem with engine or gearbox. Bus sometimes cannot move off. BC then switches to neutral and floors the engine. You can also hear the BC talking thru a OCC or mic ...

Darn the ad ! Cant see the outside of the bus clearly . Sad

I have 30 second video and approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute sound clip of the engine sound of SBS 2888T. Wah, the engine sound like those of SMRT Mercedes Hispano!

I will be submitting the sound clip to BIH soon, but when I want to email to BIH, it kept bouncing back a MAILER-DAEMON notification failure.

that's because u used a handphone to record your video and then connect it to your computer and upload it to youtube right?

I used my camera. Yup, i actually got lots of recordings, even some where i dun take the lens cap off ebcause i dun wan the video.

Yes, you're right. Handphone recordings won't be as clear as those Digital camera recordings.

TIB1203H on 188. Notice that the bus roars almost as loud as Volgren bendy. Its ZF-ed. I also notice that the bus picks up speed slightly faster than previous bendies.

2) Internal view, placed on the rearmost centre seat (part 6)
3) Internal view, placed on the rearmost centre seat, zoomed in (part 8, 9)
4) Side facing view, mounted on the curved part next to the emergency exit (part 5, 7)

Which do you think is clearer?

I think the best sounds are in 6, 7, 9. For MK2 idling sounds, see part 5.

I chose the back, because if you sat at the middle, next to the engine, the engine sound would overpower the ZF sound as you know, the MK2 engine when floored is deafening. And you won't be able to hear any ZF howling! Laughing

BTW, the B9TL engine is at the back. This is a problem when recording Volvo DD. The A/C filter is located at the back also and it overpowers the engine sound, like in my 9290X recording. So a VO3x engine always sounds better from the outside!

It has a ZF 6HP 502C - 6 gears including two overdrive gears. Most of the whistling in that recording can be attributed to the Thermo King Citi-RT air-conditioning.
