  I heard the 0405s didn't get extension, only the Mk2 B10Ms. So the only 0405s u see on the road soon will be the SMRT ones

  and BRBP+AMDEP
  (by sgwiki --> ) 504 out of 770+ buses are MB0405... i hope BRBP+AMDEP do not get a chunk of mark IV DMs but even so, at most the mark IV DMs can only replace about 100 out of the 504 MB0405... SLBP has another close to 180+ MB0405 and that is worrying but not as bad as BRBP+AMDEP

  Seems to me that SBST should be looking into this ageing bus problem soon, 0405s registered quite close to the MKIIIs. Assuming no life extension, 1000 buses disappear in short space of time.

  Well... most of the buses that will be withdrawn from now till 2014 were bought during what I call the 1990s Golden Age of New Buses (1988 - 1997), when new buses were brought in in really large numbers for fleet replacement. On top of that, many buses that were considered experimental or unusual during that time were also brought in (the first air-conditioned buses, buses with EDSes, low-floor buses, bendy buses, etc.).
  
  Now, it seems like we are on the verge of another Golden Age of New Buses. This time round, WAB will be the new concept, and I foresee that later on, buses that run on alternative fuels will also be brought in (we already have 12 CNG buses, and with hydrogen and CNG the way to go to replace our dependency on fossil fuels, I don't see why this won't happen).

  you are talking rubbish. be patient and wait until its lifespan expiry date to see if the bus gets the extension.
  
  As for your 3721J, if you purchase the bus after its expiry date then you can get to put it in a museum.
