The MK2 got 2 body version , 1 is WA the other is DM , some is CAC and some is NAC.Originally posted by alleggerita:Urmm..the MkIIs that you guys are talking about, is it the B10Ms? And which are the MkIIIs? Can someone post some picture of the MkIIs and MkIIIs? Haha..I think B10Ms are the best..Their gearchanges are tons better that the Merc's O405's gearchanges..The O405's gearchanges can be so jerky that sometimes when u are not careful, u can fall because of the jerk when u are standing..And there's also another jerk JUST when the bus is about to come to a complete stop..Like the gearbox downshift until very jialat lydat..lol..
Singapore do have MK3s.Originally posted by alleggerita:Oops. Sorry, got confused. We didnt have any MkIIIs isn't it? Haha. We only have MkIIs and MkIVs. Then the different bodies of the MkIVs would be WA Strider, DM, and DM3500 right? Haha. Oh, we do have some WA-bodied MkIIs that have VERY similar bodies as some WA-bodied Merc O405 eh? I've also seen a lot of WA-bodied Scanias with very similar bodywork to the Merc O405s. Lolx. Same model of bodywork from Walter Alexander i guess.
We got MKIIIs. 170 has plenty of them!Originally posted by alleggerita:Oops. Sorry, got confused. We didnt have any MkIIIs isn't it? Haha. We only have MkIIs and MkIVs. Mark III....Originally posted by alleggerita:Oops. Sorry, got confused. We didnt have any MkIIIs isn't it? Haha.

I refer to those buses brought in between 1987 and 1993 as "Generation PS".Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:Well... most of the buses that will be withdrawn from now till 2014 were bought during what I call the 1990s Golden Age of New Buses (1988 - 1997), when new buses were brought in in really large numbers for fleet replacement. On top of that, many buses that were considered experimental or unusual during that time were also brought in (the first air-conditioned buses, buses with EDSes, low-floor buses, bendy buses, etc.).
Now, it seems like we are on the verge of another Golden Age of New Buses. This time round, WAB will be the new concept, and I foresee that later on, buses that run on alternative fuels will also be brought in (we already have 12 CNG buses, and with hydrogen and CNG the way to go to replace our dependency on fossil fuels, I don't see why this won't happen).
Obvious ignorance that there were more Duple Metsecs brought, either that or you are biased towards the Alexander bodies.Originally posted by iveco:I refer to those buses brought in between 1987 and 1993 as "Generation PS".![]()
9000S-9670H, 1895B-1999M, 2593T-2688D, 82P-281G, mark IIs all are WA bodied considerably alot but DM bodied the most, we have mark4 DMs, DM3500, MB0405 DM & DM CAC, tridents, darts, mark IIIs, mixture of markIIsOriginally posted by Scania:Obvious ignorance that there were more Duple Metsecs brought, either that or you are biased towards the Alexander bodies.
B9TL and SBS9889U is Comfortdelgro body.Originally posted by SBS9888Y:9000S-9670H, 1895B-1999M, 2593T-2688D, 82P-281G, mark IIs all are WA bodied considerably alot but DM bodied the most, we have mark4 DMs, DM3500, MB0405 DM & DM CAC, tridents, darts, mark IIIs, mixture of markIIs
Best are Volgren bodied: VSO, CNG.
Is B9TL, 1688K, 2888T Volgren bodied?
The PSV MKIVs? Try svc 78 at Jurong E int. I've taken them too often for my comfort.Originally posted by alleggerita:I see i see..but i seriously don't remember seeing MkIIIs..haha..can someone post a pic of it here? That will be much appreciated..lolx..And there's Soon Chow bodywork for MkIVs too?! Wow..really didnt know that..where can i find pics of it? Haha..
Why I like the MKIIIs:Originally posted by Y_Shun:Singapore do have MK3s.
I don't agree with your point 3. I guess it's because you take 89 often? I do know that 89's MK 3 are speedy. Try taking them on short route service and you will know why. Some MK 3s are er...slow.Originally posted by SBS3625D:Why I like the MKIIIs:
1) Only 2 gear changes when accelerating.
2) Constant acceleration unlike the ZF buses whose acceleration plateaus along the way. Hence I certainly have no inkling why folks like to call the MKIII slow. (Ok, maybe I'm blinded by my biasness)
3) Speed! The MKIII is easily among the fastest public buses.
4) Ruggedness. Sure, the insides always creaks and groans, but I seldom hear a MKIII that makes such noises from the chassis. Even the newer MKIVs often sound like they have screws loose.
The down-side: The MKIIIs gearbox is sticky downwards, but I think its because of age.
Dey, that's for convenience sake mah. The first Mk II (1696) was PS-bodied. Anyway, regardless of who built the body kits, all also have the single round headlights.Originally posted by Scania:Obvious ignorance that there were more Duple Metsecs brought, either that or you are biased towards the Alexander bodies.
Mk IVs, VO3X batch II & III came with the rectangular headlights. Pre-1995 buses have the single round headlight. I think the 1984 LAs were the first to get such design.Originally posted by SBS9888Y:9000S-9670H, 1895B-1999M, 2593T-2688D, 82P-281G, mark IIs all are WA bodied considerably alot but DM bodied the most, we have mark4 DMs, DM3500, MB0405 DM & DM CAC, tridents, darts, mark IIIs, mixture of markIIs

Actually, I always felt that the engine sound of B9TL are similar to those lorry!Originally posted by SBS9888Y:i like B10TL interior... but like many of them dirty very quickly... take 9802U, the front is worst than the back on the upper deck...
SBS9888Y interior, the best, so special
B9TL interior like very empty, can put one extra seat for each horizontal row lor...
but B9TL engine rocks hard
B10TL engine noisy because of th radiator (except 9888Y) and slow accelration compared to B9TL engine
a B9TL engine with B10TL interior would be so nice...
sound like which lorry? sound like Mitubishi Fuso to me..Originally posted by chickenlittle2:Actually, I always felt that the engine sound of B9TL are similar to those lorry!
Hmm sounds like Mit FUSO? Hmm....I love Mitsubishi Fuso's sounds!!! If only the engine is fitted on buses...Then it will be very cool!Originally posted by QX5216J:sound like which lorry? sound like Mitubishi Fuso to me..
Ermm... There are Mitsubishi Fuso buses... But not sure whether SG has them...Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Hmm sounds like Mit FUSO? Hmm....I love Mitsubishi Fuso's sounds!!! If only the engine is fitted on buses...Then it will be very cool!
IMM shuttle uses Fuso & Isuzu buses. I think they pale in comparison to the MANs.Originally posted by stooper:Ermm... There are Mitsubishi Fuso buses... But not sure whether SG has them...
But too bad the engines aren't the same as the ones used by Fuso trucks...I love the Fuso truck engines!Originally posted by stooper:Ermm... There are Mitsubishi Fuso buses... But not sure whether SG has them...
