As for locking the ezlink card, it actually would lead to greater costs in producing an adult ezlink card just for you when your current card can actually function as one. As you know now the first generation ezlink cards are expiring soon and they are trying to extend the validity of the adult ezlink card so that the company would not waste resources to replace them unnecessarily.
I hope you understand what i've just said. If you still have any queries feel free to reply.

yeaa bringing i/c out is what im doing now until i get my card back. the point is that people bring ezlink card(students) because they are afraid of misplacing or losing the i/c what. just trying to make a point that, it just brings inconvenience to everyone. I'm trying not to travel during this period w/o the card. oh well i never got an adult card before so no point getting one while my card is being confiscated. perhaps i will use my mum's. Just to add on, using my student's ezlink card doesnt mean that im paying fares at students' rate. im still paying adults' what. -__- alright.
and to lock the card means that the system can juz install some code into the card and upon registering at some stations they will uncode it? oh well just an suggestion though thnx for replying la. -
To me , it seems that only this year 2007, a lots of card problems start poping out.When ezlink card was introduced in 2001(i was pri5 den ), there were no such cases of card problems.By the way, i have my own rights to to give or no to give my things out especially cards that have my I/C no on it

Maybe don't hand over the card to the Bus Driver then. Unless he come and manhandle you to get the card, which of coz will not be the case.
I know SBS is private company and they are not bound to provide concessions and it is a privilege.
However, they are a public transport company and by what reasons should they be given the right to operate as a public transport company if they only care about profits and have no moral obligations to the public? Why should we even grant them a license if that is the case.
If public transport companies are money-grubbing then shouldn't we nationalise the public transport system in the form of a co-op so all citizens can have a cheaper fare? Any money-grubbing transport companies can jolly well be a private-transport entity.

Ok, its time to get some child ezlink card or give them normal ezlink card, tell the BC afterall they are still ezlink card so you are not flouting the rule on the sticker -
This is however unfortunately the world operates. As a private commercial company, the main priority is to increase profits. If the extra efforts do not reap in the profits then why should the company be obligated to do. They are not charitable orgainsations nor government bodies. The local public transportation industries in my view is an industry operating in perversed manners. This is because the companies are actually limited by the government to make more profits. I am quite sure that many of you posting here do not have actual corporate experience in the management level therefore unable to see the macro view.
In response to this problem, the public also have an option, if you're unhappy with the public transport industry, you can alway opt for your own transport. A bike or a car, after a balanced comparison, you'll find that all 3 have their own pros and cons. And of course you get what you pay. If you're unable to get your own transport, then you can only blame yourself for being weak. Though harsh, this is the fact how the game is played. -

Despite payment by customer, ez-link cards remain property of EZ-Link company
I REFER to the letter by Mr Peter Lo, 'TransitLink and SBS have no statutory right to retain ez-link cards' (ST Online Forum, June 14).
Regarding Mr Lo's feedback on statutory right to retain ez-link cards, we would like to highlight that SBS Transit and TransitLink have never stated that the right of retention is statutory in nature.
Each bus trip is a contract of carriage between the operator of the carriage and the passenger, subject to the consideration in the form of a fare by way of cash or ez-link card.
The use of the ez-link card is governed by the published General Conditions of Issue and Use for EZ-Link Cards. According to the Conditions, despite the payment of card cost for any ez-link card purchased, all ez-link cards remain the property of EZ-Link Pte Ltd. Furthermore, the ez-link card must be produced at any time for inspection by any authorised personnel of EZ-Link Pte Ltd, the transport operators or qualified merchant. In addition, the Conditions entitle them to retain any ez-link card, which it reasonably suspects or has reason to believe to have been fraudulently issued, stolen, tampered with or misused. Hence, the bus captain has the clear contractual right to retain an ez-link card once the above circumstances are met.
We thank Mr Lo for sharing his feedback and hope we have addressed his concerns.

choww's FAVOURITE whistling BC of 143 (any guy shld noe who he is) tried to confiscate my card on SBS9819Y when SBS9806J and I boarded it. We paid cash and in a bad attitude saying i was ADULT when i obviously had my new sec skool card re made in november 06, when i dumped $1.20, no $1.10. den he force me to pay cash and ez link. he refused to issue tix and only gave tix to SBS9806J. He den deducted off $0.63 my ezlink card and tried to confiscate it. He then force me to pay 90cent in order to get tix. I refused. I complained to SBST and tried to kick a fuss in the bus. Commuters were shocked. SBS9806J and I tried to get card back and yes we did in the end. Stupid responses after 2weeks of pestering them for a response, they finally gave us TWO complimentary tix. (Whats the use?, they indirectly robbed me of 6ocents) DAMMMMMMMMMMMMM that BC
THAT WAS THE WORST WORST WORST WORST WORST WORST BC i evr seen. Thus, that how i dun like brbp 143 and brbp/amdep depot (only EUN svcs i like) and impression of it worsened tremendously. From then on i only like slbp 143 after that. AND THANK GOODNESS, SBS9819Y is no longer a Sv 143 perm. Thank God this bloody VSO is out. But sad to say he drive SBS9810X and B9TL too
I wish he got sent to brbp 8 or one of the NAC brbp/amdep services/ Ship him off!!! But
BUT some BC from brbp are ok (dunno why svcs like 63,60, NOT 154 though) those formerly under hgdep (eg Eunos) have BC have better work ethic!!!
I rarely take brbp 143 side cos i prefer the slbp 143 side. (better, but not fantastic service. it still isnt the best service) steal all the LO3x and in the end, turn SP (Sigh)
AND if u notice from the SBST website, the complains are mostly from buses controlled by brbp/amdep buses.
However, i am shocked a Sv 65 BC did this too this guy who started this thread. i am a regular 65 commuter and pay cash on off. one BC from arbp (the rotten egg of the AR side) and one BC from the bndep side (the rotten egg of the BN side) checked my pass.
On the whole Sv 65 BC's are quite good, esp the arbp ones. More friendly, except the SBS9441C guy who got rather bad attitude. Thus, if he is the one who confiscate the pass, i aint surprised. he likes to pick on sec/jc students. -

Drivers should be more diplomatic when they try to confiscate cards.
No wonder bus drivers are so ya ya nowadays. Now with the don't abuse the bus drivers, they can become more yaya. -

Kicking up a fuss doesn't help. Commuters of course looked shocked cos you are holding up the bus and thus delaying the BC's schedule (and probably woke them up from their nap too). Even more reason for the BC to hold on to your card as an independent observer. Count yourself very lucky for SBST to compensate you with 2 complimentary tix as a gesture of goodwill - they don't have to as stated in the official reply posted by sbs_boy earlier. And you in fact still made a nice profit from this episode as the value of the 2 complimentary tix is definitely more than 60 (or is it 63 cents)! -
Problem is that no amount of diplomacy, however good, would help as the passenger would definitely be in a frustrated or agitated mood when the BC mentions that he has to retain the card. The BC also has a tight schedule to follow and cannot afford to spend too much time practising diplomacy too. Claim that BC have no right to confiscate? Does diplomacy always work on passengers these days? I doubt so, considering the increase in amount of violence against BCs nowadays - even in one case involving a student from a top JC.
On a side note, it wasn't too long ago when it was reported healthcare workers (nurses & doctors) got physically abused by distraught family members & patients, so much so that hospitals started putting up signs to state their right to protect their staff against abuse. -

When my card spoil (no response when scanning), the driver from TIB1183G just told me to go in. I asked him about the money and he said: "How to pay when your EZ-Link card spoil and no coins?" Sometimes he will talk to their parents too. And he also helped the elderly cross the road when he saw the old woman alighted. He got off the bus he is driving (That day, he was driving TIB1222C for some reasons) and helped her. Another time he saw me far away and stopped the bus for me (I was at Blk 532 but wasn't too near to the bus stop. He just waited. But the weird thing, he appeared in TIB1049L

Anyway this happened when the original fleet of 901 perms came. When the service shared buses with 900 none of these happened because the service now has 70% of the svc. 900 BCs
