Really? Hmm strange leh, if both have the same engine, how come SBST O.405 and SMRT's sound different? Really strange.Originally posted by off_service:I think none are turbocharged.
because they have different gearboxes? DUH.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Really? Hmm strange leh, if both have the same engine, how come SBST O.405 and SMRT's sound different? Really strange.![]()

I thought SMRT all turbocharged, but no SBST are turbocharged?Originally posted by off_service:I think none are turbocharged.
I also think like that leh. Dunno who say SMRT O.405s have OM447hA , dunno correct or not. Den another guy say SMRT's O.405s have NA(Normally aspirated) engines.Originally posted by stooper:I thought SMRT all turbocharged, but no SBST are turbocharged?
Really anot? Later people scold me again for blabbering rubbish.Originally posted by billlmf:SMRT one have turbocharged, but SBST one don't have it~~![]()

Blame it on the speed limiter and poor maintenace,B10Ms aren't really good for city uses,It's more suitable for intercity/expressway servicesOriginally posted by alleggerita:We cant be too sure isn't it? Haha..the SBST'S Merc O405s has such a kick in the butt feeling during acceleration when compared to a B10M..a B10M is like a pig..Turbocharged engine produces a lot of torque at a low rpm..this is what causes the kick in the butt experience during acceleration when compared to a normally aspirated engine..if the SBST's O405 has normally aspirated engines, then it won't have that kick in the butt experience, wouldn't it? Lolx..![]()
Wonder why SBST bought them in huge numbers..Originally posted by carbikebus:Blame it on the speed limiter and poor maintenace,B10Ms aren't really good for city uses,It's more suitable for intercity/expressway services

Lets make it easier. Gearboxes do NOT change an engine sound. SBST uses Mk I chassis while SMRT uses Mk II Chassis. Durr!

They say b10m is very stable because the engine is located in the middle. The weight of the engine is distributed equally between the two axels. B10B is based on the B10M but better and stronger. Speed limiter may affect the bus accleration if i'm not wrong. Usually the manual ones are fasterOriginally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Wonder why SBST bought them in huge numbers..You are right, the B10M and B10B ( not in SBST tho) are more suitable for intercity/expressway svc. I took a B10B in Thailand and wow ! It can speed! Unlike SBST B10Ms, which feels like pig, especially the MKIIIs (sorry! No offence for likers of MKIIIs)
Btw, will the speed limiter affect the bus' acceleration/pick up speed?
Ooookay.......let me clarify. I should have said what you hear is mostly eng sound but.......AHHH! HECK CARE LAH!Originally posted by SBS3625D:Very funny.
In that case, how can we actually tell a ZF from a Voith? Try 876R/877M and then take a normal MKIII then tell me again!
Yup..absolutely true..the engine is placed between the two axles in the middle of the bus..plus it is placed horizontally like porsche's flat-six engine..hence, there's this hump in the middle of the bus that u can see inside..it makes the bus super stable..very low centre of gravity as compared to Merc O405..haha..Originally posted by XTransbus:They say b10m is very stable because the engine is located in the middle.
