I don't think there's any NAC bus in SBST's current fleet whose railings are outside the bus...Originally posted by QX5216J:i saw it on Xin Ming newspaper.

Possible that it will be non user layup status?Originally posted by swee_heng:I think this bus wont be repaired as they are already reaching the end of their lifespan soon. Could be 3622L as i have not seen or heard about it recently.
No, its currently still allowed to run on the roads.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Possible that it will be non user layup status?
Then in what state will a bus deemed as unfit to run on the roads? Such as severely damaged in a major collision ?Originally posted by Scania:No, its currently still allowed to run on the roads.
Take SBS 2648U for example. It suffered serious damage to the radiator/engine. The damage to the vital part was probably written off, so it was deemed unfit for use on the roads and had to be laid up. Bad news is, SBS 2648U lay-up period has been extended to 18 May 2008 (about 1 year later).Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Then in what state will a bus deemed as unfit to run on the roads? 2648U died-ed much earlier than 7253S. 2005 and 2007 got a huge difference you know.Originally posted by TWS4793:Take SBS 2648U for example. It suffered serious damage to the radiator/engine. For something more serious, take the recent SBS 7253S fire (which occured on the same day SBS 2648U suffered serious damage to the radiator). The damage to the body of the VO2X was written off so badly that it had to be scrapped.
I thought SBS 2648U got into serious trouble on the day SBS 7253S got into fire?Originally posted by service_238:2648U died-ed much earlier than 7253S. 2005 and 2007 got a huge difference you know.
that's what you thought.Originally posted by TWS4793:I thought SBS 2648U got into serious trouble on the day SBS 7253S got into fire?
Engine & radiator damaged means it has to wait for new engine & radiator to be purchased and fixed into it , but then now its too hard to get the engine for Volvo B10M MK4 , unless the mk2s has the same engine + same radiator , at least 2648u can use them , if now SBST will have to take time to folk out the money to buy engine & radiator for 2648u & you guys noe how expensive it is.Originally posted by TWS4793:I thought SBS 2648U got into serious trouble on the day SBS 7253S got into fire?
The case of SBS7253S is the worst . The whole bus is gutted. Thats beyond repair . Repairing the bus will cost a bomb.Originally posted by TWS4793:Take SBS 2648U for example. I think that was probably 1998 (151). The fire on the Svc 111 Mk IV seems fairly recent.Originally posted by service_238:2648U died-ed much earlier than 7253S. 2005 and 2007 got a huge difference you know.
Proper maintenance of vehicles should remain top priority along with passenger safety. I believe a well-maintained vehicle can serve you faithfully for 50 years.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:seems that there's many buses on fire lately. is it because the staff forgot to top up water, the warning devices are faulty, electrical short-circuit, buses got over-worked, etc etc?
I hope the bus companies conduct a review and implement corrective measures.
Its too high a price to pay for losing a bus due to such incidents.
Ya . I've seen one bus fire video from mexico . Its very devastating . People are still fleeing from the burning bus when the bus is already almost engulfed in flames . Many people are treated for burns as a result . Luckily there was no deaths . Its really fortunate for Singaporeans that they weren't in such a horrible situation which will be a hell of their lifetime.Originally posted by iveco:Proper maintenance of vehicles should remain top priority along with passenger safety.
