I believe with a proper management at SMRT, such problems wouldn't arise. These problems arose when SMRT had a change of management c.2003. If they had problems all along, after TIBS had merged with SMRT, then TIBS would probably suck because it was under SMRT. its all about the management and company goalsOriginally posted by iveco:I am not saying that the changes should be made today. Had wiser decisions been made back in 1999, we wouldn't be facing the problems we have today. Hindsight is important.
come on, be real. Put yourself in the transport planners' shoes. In 1999, after the NEL was awarded to SBST, it only made sense that if a single company controlled an areas transport network as a whole, it would be more efficient as all systems can be intergrated.Originally posted by iveco:I am not saying that the changes should be made today. I may not have passed my economics exam, but common sense says that subways are better off being run as a natural monopoly.Originally posted by simnatic:come on, be real. BUT today, they realise it is a mistake as competition was eliminated. It's not about "WISE" decisions as you said it. The Transport Authorities were only testing new grounds...of course, we all should know that the root of this problem is actually the NEL being awarded to SBST with the aim of creating competition on such a small rail network.

Bukit Panjang has a nice and good person, Dr Teo Ho Pin, but has a poor transport operator.![]()
why dont YOU travel back to early 1999 and live there forever since u are ever so bothered about your "NE for NW swaps".Originally posted by iveco:I may not have passed my economics exam, but common sense says that subways are better off being run as a natural monopoly.
Tibs should have been left as it is. They were much better as a bus company.
What's that?Originally posted by sbst275:SMRT is just having ivory tower syndrome
Lucky you are good at Chinese to English translation, if you uses the kind of "Free Online Translation" it would turn out like this:Originally posted by TIB1062Y:Okay.. Finally here's the (BS) reply from SMRT to my published letter: -.-

Who is zheng hu? U mean zheng fu?Originally posted by service_238:So who's wiser here? you? or the zheng hu?
PAP cheng hu screwed up. Try looking in Speaker's Corner and you will see the real picture.Originally posted by service_238:why dont YOU travel back to early 1999 and live there forever since u are ever so bothered about your "NE for NW swaps".
Then that would be great wont it? we have CCK and BBT under sbs, sengkang and jln kayu under TIBS. 190 runs as good as it is. NEL wasnt built but too bad its 1999. so rely on the 864 and 865 and 147.
As for the Hougang under TIBS theory, try 27 74 147 combined under them. these three services have the best frequency in the north eastern corridor, as compared to only 1.5 (190 & 180 for AM peak) in the NW. Unless you are able to name me services with freq <5min or close to that in the NW.
So who's wiser here? you? or the zheng hu?
