Yhe last MCW bus is EL7065,
which is on rt.7 Lok Fu <-> Star Ferry (Tsim Sha Tsui)
MCW was not bought over but sold off piece by piece. In 1989, the Laird group, former owners of MCW, decided to sell their bus and rail divisions. There was no buyer for the complete group so each product was sold seperately. MCW's bus design was sold to Optare and DAF while the rail division went to Alstom.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Metro Cammell Weymann (MCW) .. A UK bus maker. Any ideas why the Laird Group wanted to sell of the divisions? Because of making a big loss?Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:MCW was not bought over but sold off piece by piece.
