Higher frequencies for 161 and 168

If you think 14 mins is bad, previously there's frequency up to 19 mins at some slots. It's already a blessing that SBS Transit has improved the frequency.
I think you don't live in SMRT area, or take SMRT services often. -

Yah, indeed...187 is now like in crisis.
But I can say, SBS Transit has done a good job in increasing frequency for 161 and 168. Both of these services have their demand increase a lot since the moving of RP.
With more students coming in by 2008 (expecting around 5000 students or more), I guess it is now appropriate to adjust the frequency to meet the ever growing demand. -
there's higher opportunity costs involved for routes that ply mainly on expressways such as svc 161. between WDL and Sengkang, the buses are running express hence losing the opportunity to pick up and drop off pax and thus minimise turnover rates and could mean less profit. and fuel consumption over such distance is high. SV 161/168 pax are most likely to pay maximum fares per trip instead of 0.65.
Also, the fuel consumption should be much better cos it make less stop. Likewise for car also, stop and go consume more fuel than travelling along expressway.

stop and go VS continuous running of the engine - latter uses lesser diesel.
As for fill up pax loads. The economies of scale of profitting from a bus is at least 30% (that's what i deduce) of the capacity. With DDs running at least 80% pax load on the express sector, SBST would obviously profit more from these services due
1. lower fuel consumption
2. high pax load
3. pax paying fares with at least $1.28 (S168 last stop Woodlands to Jln Kayu - 17 FS) -
