Hmm , last time TIBS use to have Express 520 and 521
521 can say is the current 963/963E but was extended to Woodlands from Bt Panjang
520 was from Yishun to New Bridge Rd if im not wrong.
But actually most of the SMRT trunk service can be so called express due to the routes plying highway. -
963E too.

SMRT may not be interested in express service but certainly interested in $$$ making services like Lentor Premium Service, 854E and 963E

due to the "territory rules", services like 858, 965, 966, 969, 985 are already like express svcs. so cannot complain that SMRT dont have such routes.
Good enough its normal fares.
but comparing these svcs to 506, i prefer what SMRT provides now. affordable. -
It's gonna be possible if the WAB Merc & Scania rigids buses arrived year end.SMRTB will only buy a few WAB bendies though and no prize for guessing which brand.SMRTB fleets will be majority rigids.Body will be assembled @ Malaysia by a quite famous bodybuilders.
,Scania Elbos and the UDs will be scrapped staring year end and early next year

SMRT services like those travelling on expressway is cheaper than SBS express services. But SBS also have services travelling on express way like 5, 161 and 168, 39 etc.

smrt has 171, 187, 190, 700, 857, 960, 963, 965, 966, 969, 985.. not that bad la -

theres oredi Svc like 190 and 700 from BP to Town
and 857 from Yishun to town.. -
sometimes i would prefer 171 from bukit panjang to town during peak hour to get a seat
