SMRT's Minor-refurbished o405s

Ok, cant find something related to this... but some of SMRT's MB o405s have undergone a minor refurbishment.
So how minor?
1. Emergency exit sealed from inside and outside, emergency handles on both side of the door removed. Emergency door window sealed with new "window frame".
2. Two windows on the driver's side of the bus used as emergency exits instead, (the 2nd window and the window after the emergency exit) Two new emergency hammers provided and attached on top of door bells.
3. All aircon panels (the green panels on top) cleaned.
4. Side panels (beside the chairs) are repainted.
5. Windows ledges and corners cleaned.
6. Unknown device installed on the celling on top of the rear door. (not all have this installed)

TIB436J -
Think most of the TIB4xx Mercedes 0405's have the emergency exit shfited , spotted TIB475X , TIB431Y etc ...

SMRT seats refubrished many times liao...
from dark green become light sandy green... then become dark green again
those CAC SV307 should be refurbished soon

I've been on one OAC O405 on Service 854, which the seats felt more cushion-like.

I dun think the JB-going buses will have the E-doors removed. It seems to be a regulation in M'sia that all buses must have E-doors. At least, the ones I have seen/been on. So it may mean volgren MB's and all bendies cannot go into JB.

These buses do not have an Emergency Exit door but they have a breakable Emergency Exit window. So, it is not in the regulations that the bus must have a door.

Service 170 first started out with Volvo B10M Mark II (WA) NACs and got the air-con Volvo B10M Mark IIIs in 2002. I bet the next bus which would possibly replace the Volvo B10M Mark IIIs are the Volvo B10M Mark 4s (both Strider and DM).
For Service 950, it would mean that the Scanias will replace the Mercedes 0405s in time to come. The last buses in the SMRT fleet to have Emergency Exits were the Scania EABOs and recently the Nissan U31RCN CACs. I think the UDs stand a better chance to service 950 soon as it is more roomier.

TIB506R (855) - #6 was seen on it. Looks like a air ventilation device.[/u] -
UDs will not be on svc. 950, due to the fact that they are bought in 1993 and the Box Merz are bought in 1994, which means the UDs would get scrapped earlier. Impractical since they have to register a 2nd batch of buses before the 3rd batch comes in. I saw some of the refurb buses.
If i can remember, extra silicon was applied on the edges of side windows. The refurb ones looked totally clean and had no signs of silicon, as though the entire window was taken out.
Anyone knows how the side windows are cleaned? -

Sorry for bursting your bubble too... but SMRT just changed a few seats on TIB437... just the seat, not the back rest... replaced the seat cover, and well...FINALLY stuffed enough cotton to make it soft.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Elbos will be not be around for long.
