How about this for a better challenge: take each and every MKIII out there, except those that are being laid up, scrapped, or those training buses. SBS Transit's MKIIIs are everywhere, even in Malaysia

Better yet, take each and every "one of a kind" bus out there - time limit, 1 day. -

eh seriusoly u all give it a go . very fun one. espcially when u r down to 10 mark 4s then u vomit blood trying to clear them. pateince pays off in this case. a lot of patience. i waited for 2634 for 7 months then finally got it on 25 last yr.

i completed all the sbst dennis tridents and darts along with the B10M Mark IV DM3500+SBST PSV Soo Chow on SLBP 78, all the demo (includes SBS998Y and SBS999U), B10TLS, all slbp B9TLs, amdep B9TLs uincluding 7311, Vo2x (except 7204 and 7251), LO3x (except 9013E)... Batch 3 Vo...but the B10M mark II, III, IV DM, Strider alot still not taken...all B10LE CNGs taken

also a good knowledge of bus route is impt in this kind of thing. is best u learn by experince. dun memeorise. instead take so many bus like me in my student days n know the route in the bcak of my palm then use the system to its full advantage.
u will also need to do ur homework before hand. learn up how to spot the merc. where they are, what service they are on. any oddballs that are potential ones hard to spot. if so lump them with another route ..these kind of tactics. is good to learn if u r a bus rego by rego spotter nd taker like me.
also carry around a list to keep track of which bus of that model u hit liao. use PDA , HP or paper. i use paper. i strike off the bus rego once i am satisfied with it. in the list i also put the perm svc next to rego for planning or on the spot change of mind or ideas.

one of my fav method is my nodal spotting method. find out where most merc services go to what bus stops. then in ur planning draw up the bus stops together then decide how u cna travel from node to node easily and also clearing off one node off at a time.
most nodes will share same buses.
for exmple in m cse now the node for B9 currenly i go is HBF coz 143 n 80 new new B9s all there. then i also note down in my head which rego cd possibly come on 143 or 80. also if i hit a 80 bus i can go to another node call clarke quay MRT n hunt again o if another 80 comes along take it.
or if i hit bus 143 i cna go to nodal point like orcahrd or the peoples park there for more B9 hutning. or stick to bus 143.
also try not to limit urself to bus int as nodal points. its the out there kind of bus stop that gives more variety n surpises n kicks. i not saying int got no surpises. but possibly limited ur chances down.
lso travelling int to int, ter to ter is not a good idea coz u waste time on the bus going from end to end. ppl like me i prefer hop around bus stops and if no choice go int for toilet lol

well why not make another challenge, WALK AROUND SINGAPORE IN JUST 24 HOURS AND SPOT AND TAKE PICTURE OF EVERY SINGLE SMRT/SBST BUS OR POST CAMEOS HERE, including those which is going to Kotaraya II/Larkin Terminal in JB. If spare time, GO THESE TWO TERMINALS TO FIND THEM! Take each and every single SBS Transit and SMRT bus there is out there exactly once, except - again - scrapped, laid-up, or training buses.
Yes - from SBS 31L to SBS 9889U, from TIB 364H to TIB 1257C, from CSS 178K to CSS 207K.
Time limit: exactly 1 year

I've spotted all the Mk4 DM3500, Scania N113CRB, the Tridents and the VSOs (including 9888 9889)
Mk4 case I have to retake some buses because their aircon simply CMI. To spot them takes skill and patience, especially if they are on perm split shift timing (like that 2694 2695 of 27). 2834 was a hard one back then cos its perm VLS bus. Before my spotting period ended he came out do cameo and got him finally doing S3
Scanias... problem was 3618A because he went MIA during my spotting period. rest are no problem.
Tridents the problem ones were 9671 9683 9688 because they went for maintenance
VSOs were the challenging one because some do Citybuzz. To prevent myself from paying 1 dollar i spot them on trunk services in the morning. only 9833E was done on Citybuzz

wah tdy two mark IV DMs brokedown SBS975M on 56 and SBS988B on 162... tdy manage to take alot of MB0405s too...gonna miss these pals in years to come...thank God 131 got rid of the mark IV DMs they're a mess...hope to see more colour though on its fleet but NO to mark IV DMs

The best thing I recommend: alternate your bus rides. For example, instead of taking my 225W (which is very boring), I take Service 17 instead. I don't mind walking a bit further but I also know that I get to take new buses and cut the time I take to get home. I do this everyday unless I have a busy schedule.
EDIT: I've taken SBS 0998Y before
but not SBS 0999U
