Then just consider them nuts about bus.Originally posted by alveo:I know this isn't exactly my place to ask, but I'm curious.
What is fascinating about buses?
Why would someone want to spend over $100 on models of buses?
I could understand planes or sports cars, the speed rush with the adrenaline, but buses?
I know you like buses. What I want to know is why.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:It's our interest that we like buses , just like you liking your own hobby, that's all. Please don't be so conservative. Open up and look around you. There are even people liking Taxis and MRT trains and there is nothing strange about it.
there is no reason why we like buses. when we're born, we like it already. its a habit. don't ask anymore because in buses, we preach what we see because there is certain bus changes. don't ask again.Originally posted by alveo:I know you like buses. What I want to know is why.
I'm not trying to insult or offend, I just can't see it and would like to know what others see.

The reason, for me at least, is that buses had a big influence on me during my childhood. I used to live near a bus terminus and my family went everywhere by bus because we didn't have a car.Originally posted by alveo:I didn't understand the anime thing too, so I had to ask my friends. I like firearms. Why? Because I like being able to 'reach out' and touch something half a km away.
No I don't consider people who like buses crazy. I only want to know the reasons. You say you are passionate about it, but nobody gave a reason. Unless you can't explain it or don't know the words to express it?
which bus terminal (not terminus when using an extra word) do you live near to last time. and well said, each type is unique and have differences in engine sounds and different body works.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:The reason, for me at least, is that buses had a big influence on me during my childhood. The thing I like about buses is that each type is different. Unlike cars, buses are not built as a whole. Only the chassis is produced by the factory. The bus body is assembled later, according to the requirements of the operator. So for one particular bus type, there can be many different types of bodywork styles.
Another thig I like is the sound. Each bus is different. Some have loud howling noises, some make queer hissing sounds, some even whistling sounds. Sometimes, the sounds are unique for a particular type of bus. I enjoy listening to the sound and it sometimes puts me into a calm and relaxed state of mind.
"What is fascinating about buses?" : Its just like asking someone , "Why is your GF so fascinating ?" . Hmm , maybe all i can tell you is that we grew up with buses since young , therefore we gradually like buses . There are people who kept their childhood toys until when they are adults . Reason being that the toy holds a memento to them .Originally posted by alveo:I know this isn't exactly my place to ask, but I'm curious.

My family used to stay at my grandparent's house in Ghim Moh. We moved out in 1986. The bus terminal is just a 5 minutes walk. Back then, the services there were 13 and 20. I get to travel very often as I follwed my grandmother around. Before the introduction if the One Man Operation system, you would take a look at the timekeeper's office to see which is the next bus. Then you just go up, sit down and wait for the driver and conductior. Most often, you don't have to because there were people already in the bus. I don't know why but the drivers would leave the front door open during the journey. Maybe they feel hot. Or maybe they can't be bothered to open and close the door all the time. But then, they always close the exit door. The ZF howl on the SMRT's Merc O405 and many Voiths are the easiest to imitate ! Especially the SMRT's Merc ! I enjoy imitating their howling noise !Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:Another thig I like is the sound. Each bus is different.
