Why does SMRT don't have IRIS?

  Well, since SBS Transit has IRIS, why don't SMRT buses have IRIS so that ppl know when the next bus will arrived. Eg. ''Next bus arriving for Service 67...''

  in case u havent read the news, LTA is trialstarting an iris-like system along Orchard Rd and Sembawang (iirc)..

  It's only at Sembawang and Chong Pang areas, and that's in '08.

  They deserved it... First they withdrawn svc 608, SBST got better biz.. Now no IRIS for SMRT Buses plus dusty seats especially for those type of seats like Hispano Habit and Volgren Merz bendy.. People like me will avoid these kind of buses as much as possible.. -_-"

  Its not even that accurate sial. So fake waste my money.
  
  Like what ppl complain in newspaper, might as well put the TV back in the INT so commuters can make faster decisions.

  wake up la. at least 190, 187 freq getting better.
  
  168 barely cope in the morning and they still have 15 mins frequency. then overcrowding leading to increased waiting time.
  
  try iris on these few useless services and you will be surprised that it is inaccurate. been there done that.

  Have TVs up there that doesnt work properly ? Then whats the use of keeping it ? Try Woodlands.. The TVs are always not being updated to the current timings. Try BB interchange who always give you a hang Screen. same goes for CCK who often give a hang screen too. The only interchange with a normal working TV is Yishun. Thats all...
  
  If you understand how iris NextDeparture works. you will understand why sometimes ur mobile screen shows 13mins when the bus is infront of you.

  The thing is they have used the TVs and found that its not very feasible due to maintenance.
  
  While for SMRT...seems to always get hung and also accuracy problems. the clock on the TV at CCK has been inaccurate for a long time until someone decided to fix it to a more accurate (but still not accurate) time.
  
  SBST got iris already, why need TV? The iris NextDeparture is quite accurate as it links back to the computer at the interchange, while the iris NextBus is not so accurate, as it uses a more complex system which involves GPS and programming to get the information passengers need. I don't think anyone here would like to type in the script (as seen in the initial errors given to passengers) they have for the system. There will be errors, due to several reasons, like bus got disconnected from the system, bus sped up, slowed down or got stuck in a jam, thats why the best way is to check iris again like 2 mins before the bus arrives if you had checked iris 10 mins earlier.

  nope. ur info is 2 years old.
  all have been fixed. the only one faulty now is at CCK

  At least one TV at Woodlands is having time error. The current time shown is always way past the departure time.
  
  E.g. Departure at 1200, Current time is 1215.
