Voith - A brand from the company Voith AG . Produces gearboxes , rail technology stuffs etc .
LO3 - Leyland Olympian 3-axle
SBS7111E - A Mercedes Benz O.305 (not O.405 ). Its a non-aircon DD .
TIB905Y - A Hino Volgren demo bus . It has green tinted glass .
Voith - energy saving and smooth transmission without jerks gearbox from Voith AG. a german company. main rival is ZF (in singapore bus) which also make gearboxes. Voith gearboxes tend to rev the bus in higher rev pitch (ie engine running idle faster) so as to save energy in transmission changing later when bus go the D mode. Generally, the technology of the Voith gearbox tend to result in more smoother transmission fluid flow or what so that the bus move along rather smoothly and not jerking like ZF.
Voiths gearboxes tend to have unqiue funny sounds. Voith whistles are heard on some models of Voith when bus is slowing down into retardation stage. other newer voith models feature the sudden rev jerk when bus hits the idle mode. if driver pulls handbrake the rev jerk is not felt. more commonly felt on tridents and VSOs an most of Hong Kong's new enviro buses.
LO3X - Leyland Olympaon 3 axle's shortform name invented by bus community. the singapore LO3x are one of the last few in the entire earth. before leyland went eaten up by Volvo
SBS7111E - a Mercedes benz ) O 305 double decker bus of Singapore uses Mercedes branded transmission W3E dunno what i din remember one. . it was brand new in 1986 or so on the service 7. later in 2001, the bus did service 74 before it got sent to get scrapped. Mercedes benz O 305s lasted longer in Hong Kong but now all also gone. except those few kept by Hong Kong bus fans.
Australia have single decker forms of the O305. some are even bendies. these too are mostly phased out today.
TIB905Y - a Hino HS3KRKA bus. HS is a rather new series of Hino buses. the most common in japan could be the HR series aka (to me) the Hino Rainbow series. the Ht series are not as new as the HS series.
its nickname is the Hino Shark because the HS3RKRA sort of has he letters S h a and r and k in it. the nickname was coined by Zhan Yanxin (aiyah me lah) then in 2004 =x. also at that time we were chatting with mr Ishak whom i go and call eshark har har. (sorry Ishak har)
this particular bus was sent over by Hino bodied by volgren Australia as a demonstrator for TIBS (then). TIBS liked the bus and then ordered more of these buses but with a more newer Volgren bodywork with smiley front. the bus was brand new on service 854 under AMKDEP. later it eventually ended up at KJDEP. today is perm service is 941 altho lately after the CSS UD came to KJDEP this bus has been runnind around like madness. more commonly spotted on 975 lately.
