Another Accident involving SBS Transit bus

and like you, i thought it was at sungei road. but it isn't , its at the junction of serangoon road/bukit timah road.
SINGAPORE: A man died after he was knocked down by a bus at the junction of Serangoon Road and Bukit Timah Road, in front of Tekka Mall on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene just before 12 noon.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after.
Channel NewsAsia understands that the man was a Nepalese student.
The bus driver is assisting police with their investigations -

i witnessed the whole accident. i was at tekka mall traffic junction waiting for the traffic light. the traffic light turn amber but SBS 2787 just chiong through. the man thought the vehicles would stop coz so he cross the road but the bus just chiong through. then i think the bus driver saw the man so he quickly applied the brakes but it was too late. the man was flung up and he hit the traffic light pole. he dies instantly
there were many people waiting for the traffic and all screamed in shocked when the man was flung up
at first i thought the victim was a bangala.... about 6 to 7 police cars came to the scene -
most people just assume vehicles will stopped and thus its safe to cross whenever the red light is on.
but it is better to cross only after the vehicles have come to a complete halt.

Read the Zaobao today and it reported that a SMRT Bus (Sv 855) was involved in a collision over at Lentor Ave(yesterday afternoon)
The newspaper report metioned Sv855 under SBST control -
SBS 1848R on 82 knocked down a cyclist this afternoon at about 2pm, at the rivervale plaza bus stop. luckily the cyclist suffered minor injuries

Lots of road users (not just BCs) like to chiong through traffic light when turning red and lots of pedastrians assume driver will stop for them at traffic light and chiong across the road immediately after the green man lights up. This is the simple reason behind such accidents... RIP to the poor guy who was killed

the accident dat happen at Tekka Mall, the nepalese guy was run down cuz his watch dropped on the road, and when he go back take, the light change to green liao, although the bus was moving slowly, unfortunately it ran him over and ultimately cost the nepalese student his life

The accident site could mean lots of different scenarios for anyone, one intepret it this way, others the other way. Maybe some did not witness it and oly heard through other mouths? I heard the flung up version the most and its the most accurate one. -
I think you might want to think twice before posting such remarks. People died from the accident and the driver is facing charge on him soon.
