Inconsiderate Elderly

I post this doesn't mean that i'm being disrespect to them but unfortunately i've witness many inconsiderate behaviour particularly the elderly passengers be it on buses or MRTs..Pls have your view & experiences here.No flamming pls,Sick and tired of it
Case no 1:Taking the whole/front double/Two seats by placing plastic bags,Sitting in the middle and placing feets.
Cases no 2ie die will try to challenge/squeeze againts you upon boarding/alighting.Kiasu again..
Cases no 3:Clip fingernail/Eating char kuey tiow
Cases no 4:Talk loudly
What are your views?Doesn't mean they're older they can do anything they like correct? -
Some of them are not educated so bo bian.
But the irony is that, some of the younger teenagers are educated but they act as if they are not. Hais. -

Rushing to board the bus or climb the stairs to the upper deck pisses me off most. It's dangerous to do that and it is so for others around them too.
I get pissed off because my school uniform had oil smudge on it after an idiotic kiasu old woman pushed me against the door when boarding a long time ago. WAS SO ANGRY. -

Because of the aging process, their mental state is deteriorating in terms of reasonable behaviour, social etiquitte, alertness, orientation to time, place & person & together with their physical state of general weakness, hard of hearing, slow in movement & dexterity, are the collective causes which make them to behave & act like what you have described.
For case No 3 it's an extreme example of unacceptable behaviour & some action must be taken - perhaps inform the bus captain or MRT personnel to deal with it & hope things will turn out right.
I would like to say that if you understand the aforesaid explanation & accept it, then hopefully your tolerance level will be enhanced.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks. So guess we just have to put up with some of their quirks. However, criticism is sometimes a camouflage for a lack of understanding of these senior citizens.
I also hate it when old people seemingly have to talk in raised voices as if in a shouting match.... But I have since given them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they are doing so because they cannot hear each other very well........
Just try talking when you have music blasting into your ears as by earphones. When you cannot hear yourself, you tend to talk loudly too!
Other than old people talking loudly, I don't claim to understand. Would any Forumite are to explain.....?

As regards the oldie scolding the schoolboy 4 not giving up his seat - this is exactly the deterioration of general behaviour & social etiquitte which I mentioned in the 1st post.
Btw for case No. 4: talking loudly - they cant help doing so simply because they are hard of hearing. -

But i saw this old lady on 61 infront of me . She placed her things on the seat beside her . Then there was this uncle (quite old) came up and asked for a seat . The aunty initially ignore it (or maybe didnt hear him) . Only when the uncle ask her again then she remove the items . But not only that , she take her own sweet time .

for case 1, placing plastic bags to occupy 2 seats, sometimes we shld go help our parents do some heavy duty marketing (go market buy tonnes of groceries) n prob we will understd why they like to occupy another seat with plastic bags... cos the load is damn heavy n soemtimes wet (can't possibly put on lap)... few housewives will have any tolerance to queue up nicely with a handful of groceries n rushing home to cook
for case 3, i've seen more youngsters eating on buses than the elderly. -

like someone here said, the elderly mentality has degraded over the years, so some of the quirky habits are forgivable.
like in case 2, maybe they're afraid that due to a weaker body, they will lose out to the younger stronger generation. its not just the elderly who squeeze against you when the bus comes. so because they're weaker, they hv to be more fierce to meet the "competition". it would be nice if we're gracious to them and give way to them. so far the elderly ppl i've met are very nice, and will smile and thank me when i give way to them, or give up my seats.
case 4, its common for the older folks to slowly lose their hearing over the years. so speaking loudly is common, it can be irritating because i've a granny who's like this. so again, its a test of our own patience and graciousness. -

My observations on inconsiderate passengers (Singapore Buses and Trains only):
Senior Citizens : 40%
Teenagers : 30%
Working adults : 25%
Foreigners : 5% -

-An old ah pek cut a bus queue at the bus interchange telling people that he is a senior citizen. must give way.
-old people digging their noses and ah peks scratching their balls in the mrt.
-fart in the bus and just smile happily as if nothing happen.
-pee near the dustbin at Woodlands bus interchange, near bus 187 there. i saw it with my own two eyes!!
-spit on the floor of the bus.
-will stand in front of the door. i mean really in front of the door.
-listen to old chinese songs on their hp.. speaker of coz! can u believe that!!
-tell their grandchildren to chope the seats for them..
-demand someone who's sitting down to give up his seats while pointing at the 'give up seats' sign.
need me to tell more?? just live and deal with it. for me, it's always been a case where everybody just look and look but nobody dare to tell them off. oh well.. just wait for our generation to be elderly passengers and perhaps it will be much better! -
