The money will go round and round until it reach someone at some placeOriginally posted by tanjun:yup. heard abt that. However, I heard if companies fail to adhere to the new standards set out by PTC, they will get fined. So, where does this $$$ go to IF they r fined? Besides, I think that by imposing a fine acts as a deterrance rather than a solution to the current problem.
I wonder the definition of waiting for more than 10 mins. It sounds vague. Does it imply waiting for more than 10 mins during peak hrs or during off peak hrs or in all cases?Originally posted by iamgoondu:How does PTC going to investigate if passengers has indeed waited for more than 10min?
Can PTC provide a hotline for passengers to file report?
I would say SMRT106 would fail terribly given the traffic jam along Orchard.
At the moment I would think that the stricter bus service standard is for PTC to justify another round of fare hike.
However if indeed there is a means for PTC to investigate if buses came in at intervals more than 10min at each bus stops, and PTC really handles and investigates call from passengers, and indeed penalise bus companies, then I won't mind a 2 cents increase.

From CHANNELNEWSASIA:
[b]Buses will now have to arrive every 10 minutes, at least during weekday peak hours, 80% of the time.
With allowances for deviation, PTC Chairman Gerard Ee said the current 15-minute standard can drag waiting time to 20 minutes, so this should be further reduced.
So 10min is not the waiting time, it is the interval time the same services number calling in each bus stop. So it means the waiting time is definitely less than 10min, unless you saw the bus left the bus stop.
But it does realise that bus companies will need time to get more buses as well as recruit and train more drivers.
That is why this revised standard will be phased in two years from now.
Can we pay for the fare adjustment in 2 year times?
I would still say the raising bar standard for bus companies is another gimmick to justify fare adjustment.

$100 is not even half a peanut yet. It's only 1/6000 of a peanut to the govt.Originally posted by 105090:minimum $100 fine (up to 100,000)
$100 ah peanuts!
Agree with you. The report says SBST got more serious overcrowding of buses problem than SMRT which I think its the opposite side of the story. However, I agree with the report SBST got higher bus breakdown rates than SMRT.Originally posted by tanjun:I think that it is very hard to adhere to the 10 min time lapse between consecutive buses of the same svc.
