But 960 provides the quickest link between WDL and SJI. SMRT must consider the students.Originally posted by stituss:Too bad 960 will most likely to be victim of BTL bus rationalisation. My guess it'll be shorten to ply between Woodlands and Bt Panjang Interchange only.
Do they really consider students? or pockets?Originally posted by iveco:But 960 provides the quickest link between WDL and SJI. SMRT must consider the students.
yeah but would u wanna take 961 from woodlands rd all the way to the east?..Originally posted by tanjun:961 to Geylang. Can be considered as east.![]()
from the system map somewhere in this thread link....BTL and ERL(East Region Line) are link together....and quite likely that SMRT would be in control....mind u...do u think it'd allow SBST to take a large share of MRT pie..?Originally posted by Y_Shun:BTL 'controlship' is SMRT??
FYI , I think SBST is proposing some MRT lines in the future.Originally posted by kengkia:from the system map somewhere in this thread link....BTL and ERL(East Region Line) are link together....and quite likely that SMRT would be in control....mind u...do u think it'd allow SBST to take a large share of MRT pie..?![]()
If I don't rmb wrongly, as to why 147 route is not rerouted, is due to the protests of many consumers living in Hougang and Serangoon North area including me.Originally posted by off_service:I think they have to keep a service (or at least at the bus company's discretion) to have a backbone service to a MRT line.
These include services 2 and 147.
LTA do all the proposing lah. SBST and SMRT just operate...Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:FYI , I think SBST is proposing some MRT lines in the future.
81 82 85 97 103 106 111 133 147 all served the lucrative Upper Serangoon Route. and all would had been chopped, but 133 and 147 was "saved"Originally posted by tanjun:If I don't rmb wrongly, as to why 147 route is not rerouted, is due to the protests of many consumers living in Hougang and Serangoon North area including me.
Before NEL is introduced, I have 103 and 147 to Chinatown and Little India. Although they duplicate a lot from Yio Chu Kang Rd onwards, their loads are fairly quite good during peak hours. Without 103, 147 is experiencing high demand during peak hrs and very late at night (for saturdays).
One point to add, 501 and 502 don't really duplicate NEL line. However, both bus services are chopped. I still can rmb the days when they pass by Sengkang, Hougang and my Serangoon Nth area. Especially for 502, it provides a direct link from my hse to Orchard, Clementi and Boon Lay. Sigh!! What a waste.Originally posted by 105090:81 82 85 97 103 106 111 133 147 all served the lucrative Upper Serangoon Route. and all would had been chopped, but 133 and 147 was "saved"
anyway, like the EWL, EWL dont serve Changi Road, Geylang Road, so sv2 is there for that purpose. same for 147. It is unreasonable if people are forced to walk long distances. at least, make 2 way roads!
Yeah, but Geylang Rd and Jln Besar are within 1km radius of the MRT lines. Can say they are served by the stations on the parallel streets.Originally posted by 105090:81 82 85 97 103 106 111 133 147 all served the lucrative Upper Serangoon Route. and all would had been chopped, but 133 and 147 was "saved"

If at suns and PH, can take 961. If not, the nearest will be 195 near Clarke Quay or 196 at Outram MRT stn.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:i noticed there's isn't any direct bus service from Marina Centre to Chinatown (except 961 on Sun & PH).

if typ bus connections is poor yewtee is a ghost town liaoOriginally posted by jayh272416:Talking about SBST choosing the right routes, I have another point to add.
I live in Toa Payoh (Lor 4, hahaha, there are 28, 153, 105, 56, 155, 157, 163, 88, 73, 159 so on and so forth) and I would say that at first, the bus system there sucked.
3 buses run away from Toa Payoh at the first chance of interchange (139, 143, 145)
Just shoot straight through Lor 6 and jump out to eastern PIE (8, 26, 31, 90, 142, correct me if I missed out some)
28, 88, 73, 155, 157, 159, 163 just squeeze through Lor 4 and jump out towards Braddell Rd. Bus overcrowding, I saw 4 buses today coming one after the other (not the same service no. though ()
Lor 1: One pitiful 231
Lor 6 (Near Toa Payoh East side): One pitiful 232
Lor 8: One pitiful 238 (expected, as not many people really need the use of 100 buses going there)
But look at what SBST has done to 57 and 59
They could well have gotten 57 to follow the routes of 56, 105 and 153 through Toa payoh Ctrl and Lor 2 to get out to the PIE. But they didnt. They sent it through the EAST side of TP (Lor 6, covering up 232's operations). Same for 59, using Lor 1 to pull out to PIE East
But look! They both pass through the Swimming Complex (near the main shopping belt of TP) to help the passengers in their journeys.
Now, those living in Lor 1 or 6 can use another bus system to travel to the main shopping area in TP.
Now on Lor 8 (probs gonna post this in the "Any Bus Lovers Out There" thread.
Cya.
Next time, there will be DTL. LTA will say no point having buses from CNT to Suntec for the moment.Originally posted by tanjun:If at suns and PH, can take 961. If not, the nearest will be 195 near Clarke Quay or 196 at Outram MRT stn.
then should tell LTA to keep their mouth shut about encouraging more people to take public transport and give up on their cars and then erect ERP gantries here and there "to solve traffic congestion". If public transport are not convenient enough, how to encourage people to use public transport?Originally posted by iveco:Next time, there will be DTL. I rmb that there is one article published in The Straits Times one week ago talking about the increase of ERP prices. In the article, the author talked about the ERP gantries seemed ineffective in curbing the problem of traffic congestion because he said that the increase in price is too insignificant for motorists to give up driving.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:then should tell LTA to keep their mouth shut about encouraging more people to take public transport and give up on their cars and then erect ERP gantries here and there "to solve traffic congestion". Coupled with the LRT's unreliability , i wonder what is going to happen should a major breakdown occur.Originally posted by stituss:Contrary to what you see, BTL will increase BPLRT ridership so much so that it can't cope with the demand. Just wait and see.
59 & 59?Originally posted by 105090:if SBS decides to reroute some trunk services, some feeders like 231 can be eliminated, but longer journey times (like 54)
already, 59 and 59 don't use the standard Lorong 6 , 4, Central, Lor 2 to pass toa payoh
