SBS 908H, new recorded voice sound

I took SBS908H on Sv36 today, and somewhere around Marine parade, as the bus was filling up, a recorded announcement was made in English and Chinese on the speakers asking people to move in.
Questions:
When was this installed?
Do you think it is effective?
Is it feasible to install on all buses. -

- Based on my observation on Svc 27, it is effective.
- It is not feasible on ALL buses. But perhaps, they may install on newer buses or those buses that ply heavy demand routes. -

Service 15 27 36 selected for trial, with S27 started in March
No other sv has them yet. This means the approx 45 perm buses that ply these 3 routes has the recorder installed. Whether the driver would guai lan use them on cameo service is another thing.. now that's rare

as malcolm as pointed out, this move to the rear campaign was once intiated in 1993. also my own records show the B57s some of them have the recorded message in late 80s for another possible same campaign.
meanwhile all buses on 27 15 or 36 all have the extra speakers installed
personally i would prefer if SBST have their next stop audio announcement for the blind / bad sighted installed as well instead of just installing just this one function up

if u happen to stand near the driver seat, you will notice that these buses are fitted with CD players at the bottom left of the dashboard, I believe this is what the bus driver use to make the announcement, as I have seen one fiddling it with the Cd-player before I heard the announcement. What he did was that he selected a track for playing.
