Yup. Any bus route lovers out there? Any comments about our current bus routes in Singapore?

there's no direct link between NE and NW...that's the main problem the dudes here are complaining abt...

Besides that, there is no expressway too to link NW to NE. For example, if one wants to go from LCK to Punggol, he has to drive one big round if he wants to go via expressway.
Anyway, I just feel that most of the highest demand routes that SMRT has like 190 are previously from SBST. Like for 190, it is direct, straight towards from CCK to city. 180 too, takes a direct route via Bt Batok Rd to the western areas from Bt Panjang.
Routes like 88 goes a big round at the Hougang area when it is going from Sengkang to AMK. -
do u guys think it's possible to turn mandai rd into a expressway since there's no much buildings there except for zoo....and this expressway is a part of a expressway to link NW and NE...
is it feasible for now or future? -

SLE(BKE) > Mandai Rd > BKE(PIE). it's way faster. -

The route is not bad. It helps to relieve the loads of 190 during peak hours. One problem is that the service goes one big round over yew tee area. So, I guess that this service probably benefits most of the residents staying at yew tee area cos residents residing at BP ill take 190 which is more direct.Originally posted by patdog112:can buses Uturn..?

Once CCL is ready in around 2010, my fears are that some gd bus routes will be either withdrawn or shortened. Previously, there is a 502 that connects from sengkang to boon lay. From NE to extreme western areas.

Well, kinda liked the old 502 route from Hougang to Boon Lay. Well, no direct MRT from Punggol to Woodlands. Must make one big round. Well, at least I still got 161, 965 and 969. No wonder 969 and 965 are bloody packed:
People lazy to take the long MRT route. -

Last thurs on the 9th Aug 07 during NDP cover, my senior medic tells me of how frustuated he thinks about the public transport in Singapore. Note that he is not angry but frustuated. He cycles to Bedok camp from his hse at Woodlands area. He said that from Bedok int to hougang stadium that area following 25, 854 route, he just need 30 mins. I was shocked, stunned and amazed. Of course, his cycling route involves cutting thorugh Kembangan estate into Jln Eunos.
There was once he used an 854 bus as a reference and he cycled from Bedok to Yishun during the evening peak hrs. He reached Yishun 15 mins before that particular 854 bus and he attributed that to many traffic lights, longer route and traffic jams along Jln Eunos area.
Looks like I should try cycling as a means of transport. -
dunno why but most of the buses nowadays stops at traffic lights =/
i took buses which stops at almost EVERY(9/10) traffic lights
guess another reason is because the BC is early and wants to slow down more... -
190 route is flooded with traffic lights...
Some that takes a long time
1) The first one when the bus turn out of the interchange ... sometimes during peak need 5 to 10min for the bus to turn out
2) At the junction when the bus turn from teckwhye to cck road... another 5 to 10min during peak
3) Railway track plus ten mile junction there.... if tio train and traffic light need at least 10 min
of all these delays even xpress way buses like 190 need 1hr+ to reach town... -

That looks strange? Well, 123 is a worser example. You just need to cycle from Buikit Merah to Bukit Purmei and you're there. I must say that walking in to Johor is better when there are jams. Hmm. There is service 275 from Bt Merah to Bt Purmei. 123 is a route more to provide a direct link from Bt Purmei to Tiong Bahru to Orchard.Originally posted by tintinspartan:That looks strange? Maybe its faster to take the LRT to bp then transfer to 190, but you need to walk, and you might not be able to get onto the bus from there. Or maybe transferring to 700 is a better choice?Originally posted by patdog112:190 route is flooded with traffic lights...

I just feel that there are more and more vehicles on the road and there are many slow traffic all over the place. On National Day, Chuila St encounters traffic jams due to people coming here to watch fireworks. I guess Raffles Avenue encounters slow traffic. Almost Saturday around 2000 in the night, Serangoon Rd will encounter traffic jams too, causing delays for bus trips.
I guess one thing that the authorities can do to increase the quality of public transport is to reduce the number fo vehicles on the road. Besides, this move is more environmental friendly.
