Oh u mean VO2x also lost to 0305 ?!Originally posted by sBs_boy:Ahh.. O.305s..
One of the most powerful buses that SBS had brought. Too bad none of the current fleet could simply match the performance by these powerful workhorse.
What Volvo Viking? You mean Leyland Viking?Originally posted by MingFreeman:Ya, those old volvo vikings were super noisy. Those poor drivers
I like the NAC leyland olympians. Too bad they are scraped and they were only restricted to the western and toa payoh side of singapore.
can say so... unless if the VO2X is on an expressway.Originally posted by CAIX:Oh u mean VO2x also lost to 0305 ?!

The Atlanteans also serve Townlink 291 , still remember taking it last time.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:hmm Leyland atlanteans also served on Pasir Ris TOwnlink 359
Leyland Olmpians also served on 70,107,186.
Yeah , Still remember I get to see the B57 on some Tampines Service , but I like the front especially.Originally posted by In_Between_Days:The Volvo B57s were also pretty powerful...can't miss them wif thier unique front, the black squarish grille and diagonal Volvo symbol...not to mention they had a raised roof @ the top and behind...behind u wld usually see the small SBS symbol
Yeah, me too...Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:The Atlanteans also serve Townlink 291 , still remember taking it last time.

Albion Viking soon chow buses had super noisy engine sounds tat can be very frightening at times, can't stand those noisy buses when I was a kid. Compared to MB OF1413s the MB engine sounds are much better n not so noisy.Originally posted by keropoking:how does the engine of Albion Viking sounds like?
If I am not wrong, Albion Vikings were mainly serving on Bt Batok, Bt Panjang, CCK, Buona Vista, Bt Merah, Hougang and majority of the east bound SBS services, which is now mainly covered by Volvo buses. Whereas Mercedes OF1413 were mainly on Jurong, Jurong East, AMK, Toa Payoh and Serangoon areas, now still covoered by Mercedes 0405 buses.Originally posted by vivienlee:Albion Viking soon chow buses had super noisy engine sounds tat can be very frightening at times, can't stand those noisy buses when I was a kid. it wouldn't be less than 3 gears. Do you find O.405s running at less than 3 gears in smooth traffic (unless the driver is early)?Originally posted by collinnxk88:can say so... unless if the VO2X is on an expressway.
usually on normal roads the O305s stay in 2nd gear? [<55kmh]

fyi, MB O305 dun serve 188.. only LO2x.Originally posted by patdog112:tis bus got serve 188 am i wrong..?
There were 2 versions of the NZMB bodywork on the B57. The 1st version had a raised canopy and flat roof. The 2nd version had a curved roof and its windsrceen is slightly shallower to fit the desto wihout raising the canopy. This was the type which was also fitted on the 1417. It was impossible to tell which was which if you saw one approaching with all its badges missing; which was very common as the buses near retirement. When new, the rear was used to display the service number. It was later disused and on some buses, they were even sealed up.Originally posted by In_Between_Days:The Volvo B57s were also pretty powerful...can't miss them wif thier unique front, the black squarish grille and diagonal Volvo symbol...not to mention they had a raised roof @ the top and behind...behind u wld usually see the small SBS symbol
I remember sum of the Mercedes-Benz OF1417s also had NZ bodywrk similar to the Volvo B57s instead of thier usual Hawke bodywrk...but instead of the diagonal Vovlo symbol it wld be a large silver Mercedes-Benz 3-pnt symbol on the front engine grille...
Yes, indeed; and so did the B57s except that theirs were less noisy.Originally posted by In_Between_Days:The Mercedes-Benz OF1417s when comin 2 a stop wld make a sort of "Brrrrrrr" noise...remember?![]()
The engine sound of the O305 was very nice and smooth. In my opinion, it sounded better than the O405s.Originally posted by In_Between_Days:MB0305 DDs were the best in my opinion...very spacious and i dun think the engine sound was as bad as the Atlanteans or Olympians...
I rem everytime u saw the MB0305 DDs come 2 a halt @ a traffic light, u cld see the bus see-saw in suspension
Albion Vikings i rem were freaking noisy...if i'm not wrong they were manual transmission?
I may have gotten the names or models confused but they used to be used in feeder services like 226. They are volvos.Originally posted by iveco:What Volvo Viking? You mean Leyland Viking?
