read the last paragraph. i should guess the 300 new buses they claimto have already purchased are 200 B9TLs and 100 K230UBs. as for these 400 new buses, we just have to play the waiting and speculating game again, just like we did for B10TL,B9TL and K230UB. -
According to the straitstimes video, the new 400 buses, which costs $145m, will roll out by 2008...

I believe not yet. The Scanias will start deregistering from 2nd Half next year till early next year. Take note that some MERCs may not be extended for 2 years.

I've heard that both SBST & SMRT Buses will purchase 95% SDs in future,So we will see less DDs & Bendies.

that will DISCOURAGE (not encourage!) more people to take public transport!
our authorities always like to paint a beautiful picture about encouraging people take public transport or ease overcrowding blah blah blah. And they don't practice what they preach! I rather they keep their mouth shut! Fancy hiding inside their luxurous cars then talking crap in front of the press!
these bargers must be siao! tell people to abandon their cars and then squeeze themselves like sardines and stand all the way on buses to their destinations. Why don't they try out the public transport like anyone else first to see whether its good enough?
In contrast, HK got overwhelming number of double-deckers and much frequent trains. -

Anyway SMRT profit margin is even better than MTR... Though MTR carries 2x more passengers than SMRT!
